H-how do I become a more experienced freeway driver? I want to plan a roadtrip from LA to San Francisco with my friends, but I got my license like a year ago so I still don't feel confident driving on the freeway

You go driving on freeways.

You'll one day realize that highways are the easiest roads to drive on. Stay right except to let people in from on ramps or to pass a slower car. Use your turn signal at least 2 clicks before starting a lane change.

Highway driving is literally as easy as it gets and the drive from LA to SF is literally just a matter of not being tired. The real challenge is driving in San Francisco with its giant hills and really fucked up roads.

learn to deal with boredom/ not falling asleep at the wheel. caffeine and something to listen to helps
Don't take the 5. The traffic is jammed up the whole way from LA to SF.
Just take 101 or 1 instead.

The 5 is fine once you get north of LA, though I've seen it get a bit gummed up now and then intermittently through to Bakersfield.
