hey /o/,
so I'm looking to replace the front struts on my mazda 3 2008 hatch, and I don't wanna hurt myself/don't have air tools.
I don't want to buy a precompressed spring either, can't afford right now, same reason I'm not paying a mechanic.
How would I go about doing this? Could I remove the front struts first, bring them to some place (canadian tire?) to get the springs removed, put old springs back onto new struts, new struts with old springs back into car, and lower it?
I have never really worked on a car before, and researching this is quite daunting, but I want to do it myself either way.

replace all 4 with a COMPLETE new set of coilovers, make sure they are a 100% replacement because some re use old parts which require you to disassemble the coilover, if you get a complete suspension swap you will just bolt in the 2 or 3 bolts at the top and the 1 bolt at the bottom, will be easy.

If I educate myself well enough it should be fine, I was just hoping to find out if it's possible.

the price you're gonna pay a mechanic in labor to get those new struts mounted on those rusty ass old springs(if he doesnt break them) is gonna add up to a set of new high performance adjustable coilovers.
If you're not a faggot and will do it yourself the old struts have no more life in them and will not explode, ratchet strap them or hose clamp the coils if you want, and use a electric impact to blast the nut off. if you cant put it back together THEN bring to a mechanic but its still gonna cost you.
