Looking to trade in my DeVille shitbox w/ 93K miles for a cheap, reliable work truck of some sort.
Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a Tacoma or a Silverado.
Otherwise an AWD vehicle like a Su-bro-ru or Volvo. Any feedback/advice is helpful, thanks.

why awd?
anyway just get what you find a good deal on

If gas mileage isn't an issue, get a late 90s z71. Best truck I've ever owned. Great motor, great tranny, great diffs, etc. I have the extended cab long bed, and my only gripe is the long wheelbase. Solid truck all around.

I've had some scary experiences in fresh snow with this thing, even when traction engages.

Great advice, thanks. I'll add it to my list of potentials.

sounds like its YOU not the car
i doubt you can steer or stop any better with awd.
get good instead
then get a good car.
>>

Good point. Should I disregard AWD as a deciding feature then?
>>
>>16439764
yes. i would.
concentrate on your skills instead

Also sounds like you'd just kill yourself in a truck. Trucks take a bit more to handle especially in snow and ice conditions as you have no weight in the back, they get very sideways happy.

>Tfw dagumi my open diff pickup on all seasons in winter
>Tfw can do 90 degree entries in that thing
>it weighs 4200lbs

fun times but i dont like open diffs
in my last truck it had a "G80" diff
i added a posi to the front axle too. it made it understeer pretty bad

>>16439796
Makes sense, however I'd like a truck because my job requires I haul around my chainsaw, muddy boots, pulaskis, etc. Perhaps I should suck it up and line my trunk with cardboard or something lol

Holy fuck this dash looks cool. Like Fallout.

Ikr. I also appreciate how the digital speedometer never skips a digit when accelerating/decelerating.

Snow tires, ya retard.

Minivan. Serious.

140 square feet of cargo space. Equal to a full size pickup bed.

Dodge and Chrysler minivans with stow and go seating means instant swap from cargo hauler to 7 people mover and back again with no removing seats.

Slap a class 2 hitch for 3500lb towing capacity in a trailer.

Better gas milage then most pickups.

This. Plus those same Chrysler's come cheap and have available AWD.
>>
>>16439901

Everything breaks on those though especially if you get a used one

Won't deny they're useful as fuck though

I want a minivan for my business but I want a mpv or short wheelbase one
>>
>>16439950
find an awd previa.
>>
>>16439813
Yeah I hate my open diff I want to swap in an LSD eventually and change whatever factory gears it has to 3.73s or go 4.11s with a gear vendors behind the trans, but suspension is next on the list.

>babby 2wd shortbox because I love squarebody and she suits my needs very well
>>16439829
Then go for it senpai, if you need extra interior room go extended cab for your shit don't be that guy who has a quad cab who doesn't utilize it at all. Just don't expect a truck to make you a god driver in all conditions they don't drive like a cat and require you to know how to handle them when they under or oversteer in bad conditions or lose traction just as any vehicle.
