How often should I change the oil on a car that doesn't get driven very often? I've got a Camaro that I drive maybe once or twice a month and has only had around 200 to 250 miles put on it since I last changed the oil in June 2016. Definitely not even close to 3000 which is still pretty short of an interval for modern oils.

they say 6 months, but I do a year.

seconded once a year
>>16435794
Fuck off. Do it every 3k miles...oil doesnt go off like milk for fuck sake...

brake fluid and coolant sure will
>>16435843
No, but it still gets moisture in it (especially so since it sits a lot) and other contaminants from being run. It's also a worn out 305 so it's not the best about blow by.

From where?? The bottom end is sealed you dolt.
Brake fluid should be changed every 4 years regardless.
And gearebox oil should be changed every 30k miles.
Dont gave this nigger more work than he needs.

PCV, air cleaner. The crankcase is absolutely not sealed.

i have a 1979 Toyota Supra i drive 200km/year if that, usually once every year or two i change it
>>16435843
oil thats been sitting in a car contains acids, you park a car longterm and those acids just sit on your crank bearings and eat at them. thats why if youre parking a car for more than 2 months you should change the oil immediately beforehand. i was a mechanic for years and even my boss told the old fucks that came to the shop driving 500km a year just come once yearly for an oil change

Yeeaahh...and theres alot of oil stored in the top end of the engine...
C'mon man, stop making work for the poor OP for fuck sake...
>>16435935
Holy shit man, its not sitting there for years at a time for fuck sake...
You cunts are beyond autismo..Gran Autismo if you will...
>>16435951
I am the OP you double nigger
Synthetic can go a year, conventional really 6 months before it starts breaking down, regardless of mileage
If you're using a crappy oil filter, the seal on that can fail before the oil if you're pushing it that far (had it happen to me when I was still dumb enough to buy Fram shit)
