Jeep has done it a bit with the past few gens of Grand Cherokees and it makes for terrible storage space considering they are mid size SUVs. My Escape (previous gen) is a smaller car and you can fit larger and more stuff in the trunk than the larger Grand Cherokee because of the liftgate opening, lower floor, and high roof.

And for sedans and 2+2's, it makes for terrible rear headroom.

Those are actual luxury vehicles with actual, modern amenities that get better than 5 mpg and are actually smaller and easier to drive than a hummer as well as being under warranty because you can buy a new example right now as you have pointed out rather than buying a twenty year old Hummer.
