HAPPY NEW YEAR CUNTS! LET'S MAKE THIS A COPYPASTA!
~~~~~~
The victorian government is known for lying about statistics to further their agenda of revenue raising. Despite constant cries for more speed cameras and fines to make us "safer" the road toll has gone up year after year since 2013 even accounting for new drivers!
http://www.tac.vic.gov.au/road-safety/statistics/lives-lost-year-to-date
But it gets better. So they've been feeding us all this crap about how "speed cameras save lives" and they even have their own site with some fantastic sources! Let's take a look at those "sources" shall we?
http://www.camerassavelives.vic.gov.au/home/road+trauma/research+and+evidence/
The "independent" research arm they are getting their studies from is actually not that impartial at all!
That's right, it's the monash uni accident research center. A government funded center that is dependent on revenue raised by cameras to stay open. That's right, these researchers will lose their jobs if a steady revenue stream is not met.
The government cannot provide a single cited source from a truly independent source. Meanwhile....
http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/140kmh-safer-in-australia-safety-expert-20101011-16fer.html
That's right, german researchers from Porsche and Mercedes have shown evidence our low speed limits on highways actually cause accidents. Surprise surprise, germans have the derestricted autobahn and have lower accidents per 100k than we do.
It gets better. We're constantly fed a stream of propaganda that young drivers are a menace in their "high powered hoonmobiles" and we should worry about them. Yet statistics tell a completely different story.
http://www.tac.vic.gov.au/road-safety/statistics/lives-lost-year-to-date
That's right, 40-49 and 70+ aged people are causing fatal accidents at TWICE the rate. Meanwhile in tasmania, where there are no restrictions on the type of car a young person can drive...
>>
>>16411066
oh yeah i was reading that before thats fucked
NSW is just as cucked, qld more so
>>
http://www.transport.tas.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/141474/Fatality_Calendar_Year_to_Date_30_September_2016.PDF
You guessed it, tasmania P plate drivers are actually quite safe in their modern high powered cars, making up a very small percent of accidents. Once again, it's boomers who are the menace on our roads, as shown by statistical evidence.
Now if this has not gotten your blood boiling, prepare to hate our government even more.
http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/northern-territory-to-drop-open-speed-limits-20160830-gr4d5c.html
For a while, the NT had open speed limits in a portion of road. There was ZERO DEATHS. That's right, ZERO.
Recently they have removed the de-restriction by citing these BULLSHIT LYING VICTORIAN STATISTICS ON SPEED and now, we can expect deaths again.
See, due to the geography of the NT it is actually more dangerous to drive slow. More deaths happen due to fatigue and we can expect to see deaths again, now the speed limit is back to 110.
We had a period of years where it was PROVEN the derestricted zone worked, with not a single death....and they're now playing with people's lives for MUH FEELS and muh revenue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PLEASE SAVE THIS FOR REPOSTING CUNTS

>>16411071
feel free to add more nsw cuckery in there if you can find cited sources to call them out
>>
>>16411076
cited sources wont do shit

Besides speeding fines are the least of this countries problems since we're literally fucked as a country and essentially going into mad max territory, economically, government wise and culturally
>>

I figure it will help redpill more anons who are on the fence about the government's lies.

I want them to see how it's not just a little white lie, they are actively bullshitting and manipulating statistics.

Old people are a fucking menace on the roads.

This.

Mate is a nurse and says they prefer hiring guys because it can be a bit physical and dont get into workplace politics as much. just do what they need to do and get the fuck out. I guess it's somewhat affirmative action in our favour too for once.

He said dude nurses tend to just go in and do what they are supposed to do properly too. Even small things like rolling fat fucks side to side every couple of hours so they don't bed sores.

Apparently female nurses can't be fucked with doing shit like that or properly washing patients and stuff. They're more about looking good infront of the family members so they don't get called out on it.

He also said other male nurses are real bro tier to work with since you can depend on them to do shit the right way and won't back stab you and report you for making non-pc jokes.

gay males are an exception though. apparently they are just as bad as female nurses

step up bro, i get 55k a year from my shitass metal foundry job that requires zero prior skill, set your sights for higher career

Surman Metals in South Australia

i deal with all sorts of metals, but the point is im a shit tier labourer and i still get 49-55k a year without a university debt. Machine operator is where its at
>>
>>16413304
How comfy is it? Work as a cellar hand at a winery in SA and sick of the place, thinking of a career change.
>>
>>16413356
its ok, its actually hard work but i wear earplugs for 9 hours a day so while i work with people i rarely have to talk to anyone

I operate machinery mainly but i also pack the materials that i cut for deliveries. I dont mind physical work, i couldn't do maths well in uni so i flunked engineering pretty hard. Its basically working an assembly line so its long and monotonous days but i dont mind, i like telling people i work with raw material in a traditional job, people dont think im a neet anymore and im moving somewhere
>>
>>16413304
i wasn't implying anything
i am also in the metal trade

>tfw earning 53k a year being a fucking general labourer
Sometimes it is hard but atleast I know that 457 pajeets will never take my job, no self entitled students want to work in my position and no females will ever want to be shitdiggers so I am safe from feminism too.
Also 100% of everyone else in the site is male and everyone is a real bro so no female drama.
God bless hard work and construction industry.

I could literally make more money off the government if I got officially diagnosed with the depression and social anxiety I've got, than what I currently make in wage slavery. bullshit stats... unemployed and 'hidden' unemployed includes stay at home mothers, elderly, students, people between jobs and any dole bludger that isnt on a pension

Not at all. The Subaru reliability meme comes from the States where lesbians buy Foresters and Outbacks and have good maintenance records. It does not extend to a secondhand WRX or STi owned by the snapback-wearing swaggot who peels out of Maccas drive-thrus and neglects to maintain it as he beats on it.

With cars like the WRX, STi and Evo you'll inevitably drive them hard and you're almost certainly going to modify it in some way. Stupid people wreck them with eBay parts and "a tune" and blame the manufacturer for their mistake. If you want them to last you've got to do two things;

>leave them stock or modify them properly
>consistent maintenance

It's an expensive thing in the long run, and insurance for them is pricey too. But the (un)reliability meme comes from the same poorfags and dumb niggers that'd blow up an SR20 with dumb mods and whine about how Nii-san makes bad engines.

My housemate had a VZ Crewman which I drove constantly. The pillar was big but it didn't bother me at all, let alone get in the way.

The VE is a very different story though.

One time we had use of my housemates uncles VE Calais because we had to drop him at the airport and got to use the car for a few weeks as a pay off.

I drove it occasionally, and holy fuck it was bad. The pillar is fucking massive and sits right where you need to look.You literally have to move your body to see around it. My housemate said the exact same thing too.

It single-handedly ruins the VE.

Hey fellas, going to be getting my first car soon, 2004 Manual Nissian X-Trail ST. Mum and dad are helping me get it because I'm a broke ass uni student and so I don't have much choice, but I'm not complaining either cause its better than no car.

I am thinking about changing out the stereo and speakers to something that doesn't sound like a tin can, not going to be blaring music for the next 2 blocks to hear though. What should I be looking for when changing out the stereo? Is it hard? I'm doing electrical engineering at uni so I've got a understanding of how wiring works etc.. but would like some advice if any is neccessary (or it might be straight forward, I've never done it before)

Also, it has got a very short clutch? I've grown up driving landcruisers around the property and they seem to have a nice spaceous clutch whereas the x-trail is a cunt and always stalls (family friend is selling it so I've driven it a bit before). Is there a way to make it 'deeper'? Or do I have to get used to it? Advice definitely needed on this one.

Also the thing is slow as shit, doesn't have much take-off at all, I'm not going to be hooning around corners or being a dickhead but I would like to get from 0-50 a bit quicker than a wet wig

I'm going to clean the thing up when I get it, a girl used to own it and she's fucking filthy. I'd also like to give it a service, I've got a bit of experience servicing things like bull dozers and motorbikes as we use them on the station, and that mainly consists of blowing out the filters, changing the oil, filling up the rad, and making sure the tires are pumped. Going to read the manual to get an idea of anything that is 'user servicable' but I'm not fucking useless so I'd like to know anything else that I can service myself that is worth it. Check the belts perhaps?

Any advice is helpful, thanks /o/

>What should I be looking for when changing out the stereo? Is it hard? I'm doing electrical engineering at uni so I've got a understanding of how wiring works etc.. but would like some advice if any is neccessary

To the head unit you'll have constant 12v, switched 12v, and earth.
Constant 12v keeps your settings, switched 12v turns it on when you turn the key.
If you lose your radio stations etc when you turn it off, you have the wiring backwards.

Other than that, just observe polarity when wiring the speakers.
Protip: You can use a AA battery on the speaker wires to figure out which speaker wire goes where. It will make the speaker make a small pop. If you're really good you can use it to figure out which wire is positive (cone will move out and pop slightly louder).

like how does the whole payment process work?
>>
>>16416153

It varies a lot depending on state.
In QLD you don't even need a bill of sale anymore, you just fill out a stat dec when you rego it.

I did have an idea recently though:
When you're giving them the money etc, pull out your phone and make a video. Get them to say they're selling you the car for $$$$.

Better than any piece of paper if it ends in legal shit imo.
>>
>>16416153
I haven't done one in a while but if I remember right, there's a transfer of ownership paper that they should have and you both sign two different halves of and take both into the rego office.

Transfer payers should be the sellers priority otherwise they're just being cunts.

Bank cheques are pretty much you go to the bank, give them your card and they print out the cheque for you. You wouldn't be able to get the cheque if there wasn't anything in your account. When you buy the car you give the seller the cheque and they give you the car. DO NOT give money or cheques to the seller without getting the car.

If there's any problems with money being cleared or whatever, they can contact you afterwards to sort it out.
>>
what do you guys think of those seal rejuvenation additives you add to oil to stop leaks?
I've got a leak coming from a hose which connects to my oil filter.
I can't find the part online but found ads like this on ebay,
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STOP-OIL-LEAKS-FOR-CHEAP-CARS-/181472806827?hash=item2a409f47ab:m:mzmz3f5zl_JRTWinCONK0_g

seems kinda gimmicky but the reviews are all positive.
>>
>>16416202

They (usually) work by making gaskets swell up and expand, which plugs the leak.
Since you're leaking from a hose, not a gasket, it more than likely won't do shit.
>>
>>16416202
just replace the hose m8, why would you even consider anything else?
>>
How do you guys ask for a better price or negotiate price without sounding like an arrogant asshole and have them be more open to it?

Is it bad idea to ask for a price before hand over the phone/email/text?

Also is it better to say 'would you consider $x for it' or is it better to say something like

'how much would you be willing to let it go for?
>>
>>16416202
Just replace the hose dingus.
>>
>>16416213
I won't consider offers if they aren't in person. How do you know the car isn't worth what it's being listed for if you haven't even looked at it? I think you can safely ask 'are you negotiable?' but there's no way you'll be taken seriously if you just give them a number.

As far as you're concerned, it's the same as cash.

The way it works is that the bank took your money and a fee for the service then issued a cheque drawn on the bank itself, not on your personal account. It's guaranteed to clear so there's no bullshit waiting, you just swap it for the keys (and transfer papers or whatever else is involved)

What did you say to get that much off?

https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Subaru-Impreza-2004/SSE-AD-4422650/?Cr=2

something like this supposedly stock and single owner

How much would a dealership give them for it
>>
>>16416512
>did you have to come up with seemly valid reasons?
They were relatively naive but the car didn't have working AC, a loose headlight and a headlight that didn't work despite having a new globe in it. Ultimate it was just out of gas, I reattached the headlight and it turned out the non working headlight was just a fuse (since every light for the front of the car had an independent fuse). Since they didn't know how to fix these things I got $1500 off but to be honest I was surprised by the fuses, it was strange that it had individual fuses.
>>
>>16416527
That is more common than not.
>>
>>16416512

>What did you say to get that much off?

Not that guy, but you just note things that need to be fixed. Act like you want a car that is completely stock and any retarded modifications are a negative to the price.

Look at the tyres, if they are bald make note of it. Look at the service history, if it has missed services make note of it. Look at the glass for cracks. Look in the water tank for mixing of oil/water. Look for leaks.

Take the car for a 15 minute drive. Get up to 100KM and see if the car pulls to the left or the right. If it does it needs a wheel alignment. Do a brake check to see if the brakes shudder as well. If they do you need new front discs and pads.

Basically buying a car is a game trying to figure out what is wrong with it so you can jew the seller down on price.

Bring cash because people are more likely to sell you stuff for cheaper with cash.

The deposit gives legal consideration as does the receipt that should be written out confirming the deposit amount, purpose, date, interested parties and particulars of the sale (product, terms of delivery, total sale amount)

I.e you go and look at half a dozen models that suit your criteria, you contact the one that you like best and meet with them again. Offer them a price that youre willing to pay & meet them at an agreed price point.
Offer the deposit (10% is customary, less is usually fine if the car is of significant value ~ i wouldnt expect 7 grand deposit on a 70k car, 1 or 2 k would be sufficient consideration)

Then return at a later time with either cash or bank cheque and pick the car up, sign transfer papers etc
