A completely stock truck with good tires from the big 3 or Toyota will get you through nastiest logging roads and to most trailheads. If you need more off road capability than that, get a dirt bike, quad or side by side.

I imagine if fuel prices were similar to Australia (didn't actually check), then smaller trucks would be more popular. . I've been looking at F150 Lariat either 5.0L or preferably 3.5L Ecoboost. The issue is they have them listed as MSRP $65k or something, List Price: $54k due to incentives. But when you go to the dealer, they say some bullshit "doesn't qualify" or "truck is gone" and its almost impossible to find a truck for the actual advertised price.

I was looking at Sierra SLEs, those are within budget. But you can't get leather seats. You can get the All Terrain package which does give you some nice seats, within my budget. But discontinued for 2017 for the SLE. I'm looking for 2016 but a lot of them are sold.

I was also looking at the Silverado LT Z51 with leather seats. Again impossible to find as a crew cab.

Last is the Ram 1500 Sport. Its Vinyl and cloth seats, but it feels like leather. All of them are within budget, they have heavy incentives as the new Rams are coming out.

Which truck would you go for? I want to get brand new as my company is paying for half the lease.

-135-175 horses (mappable to 200), although torque is what you need and being diesels this is well covered

For what's it worth, Ive had some work trucks over many years. A '02 GMC 2500 made to 341k miles before quitting that job. Then a F250 with 280k before it was stolen.
