Any way to get good deals or save money when getting my car serviced at dealer?
>>
Do your own fucking maintenance.

You have any idea how much you save doing your own coolant flush?
>>
>>16386693
i don't have tools,time, or space
>>
>>16386708
This is not an excuse.
>yfw I watch all these customers come in all fucking day and pay 150$ for cabin and engine air filters.
>tfw when working at dealership I have access to a full lift and can do my own maintenance on my own car for fucking free.

>car is 2015 only serviced at dealer before warranty expired and even then it was free
Now I take care of it myself and it still costs me next to nothing.

Man I love being a mechanic.
>>
>>16386804
Holy shit, you guys charge $150!? We only fuck 'em for $90!

I love telling people outside work that I'll cut them a "huge deal" do it for $40 and even throw in the filter for "free"

No, you're just ignorant and lazy.
>>
>>16386804
>>16386693
this

unless its a clutch or brake pedal swich replacement or that stopper bullshit

fuck that to all hell
>>
Will providing oil and filters myself save some money with dealer?
>>
>>16387033
The cabin alone is 90$
Also be careful with that. Don't get in trouble.
>>16387071
Lol those switches take literally 2 minutes to replace on a Subaru
>>
Is it a good idea to replace a o2 sensor or go to a shop for it?
>>
>>16386662
Yeah learn to swallow.
>>
>>16386662
Suck the Head of Serivice's dick.

Works for me every time and I get free regular maintenance on every new BMW I buy.
>>
>>16387506
replace it yourself it's literally unclip, unbolt, bolt in new one, reattach clip.
>>
>>16387625
In that case how much should it cost at a shop? I'm just worried about fucking it up when I try getting it off the car is pretty old
>>
>>16387506
are you clinically retarded?
>>
>>16387685
No? But I don't have tools or a Jack either
>>
>>16386662
Don't.

If you must have someone do it for you find a good local independent shop to take your car to.

You'll get better service and probably pay a bit less too.
>>
>>16386662
Go to the dealer website. Usually they'll have service "coupons" that can get you at least a little bit off of the ass-fuckery you're about to receive.

Alternately, find a good, reputable specialist that uses factory parts on your make on Yelp and pay half price. Your choice.
>>
Ask them if they have any discounts. Most of them will give you a few if you are nice enough. Probably still ripped you off for a good amount

Check out more than one dealer for your car brand.

Dealerships can vary wildly on price because some are operated as "stealerships" instead of as "dealerships". For example, in my area, there is only one remaining chevy stealership which managed to kill off the other competitors or make them move. Now, the next closest chevy dealer 12 miles away is about to die off too making this stealership even huger (it is very huge now). Ironically, this city has some slummy areas.

As an example of prices for routine items, my local chevy stealership charges $49.99 for the oil and filter change. Up the road about 36 miles in another city, they are $39.99 everyday since they post their coupon regularly and almost wave it in your face when you come there on a visit. My local chevy stealership charges $170 for wheel alignment while the other chevy dealership charges $68 everyday price (no coupon needed).

You can also check your car's problems ahead of time with an OBD2 tool. Knowing about the problems or non-problems can be of help in case the service writer tries to pull a fast one on you in order to boost monthly sales totals for incentive awards.

>take it to the stealership
pick one

avoid dealership service or parts whenever possible
lean what aftermarket parts are good
find a local trusted mechanic, preferably one that specializes in your vehicle make

Don't fucking lie to yourself.

Here's what you do, take the money you were going to spend on the service, get a ok jack and super shitty tools and do it yourself. When a tool breaks replace it with something decent.

>hurr durr I don't have room
Find a car park or just do it on your street.
