Sounds good - but I want to keep the frontier for sentimental reasons, and don't have room. I need a place to park it and drop the transmission, so I can get to the burned part of the harness.

You don't need to drop anything, just Unplug all the connections and pull the harness up out of it, or at least where you can access the bad spot.
