Hey /o/ I'm considering buying a Lancer.
I'm fairly new to the car scene so I'm looking for opinions. How "easily" would I be able to put more power in? Should I buy the 2.0 with a manual or is the 2.4 with cvt and awc worth the extra $$$?
Just don't buy a shitty Lancer. Get a used Civic SI/Ford Focus ST/Mazdaspeed3 if you want a fun shitbox.

Get a civic for 3k. Why would you pay 16k or more for a shitty lancer that hasn't been changed in 10 years?

seriously, this.
mitsubishi doesn't make anything new that is worth a damn currently.

Its fucking awful, I've driven a base lancer (non-evo) and they are bad, reallly bad.

Used to own a base Lancer 2010.
Honestly, not a bad car, but as others have indicated, others are better at any given field.
Toyotas/Hondas/Fords(?) get better MPG or come with more options, but if you want something basic, and I mean basic as in 'not-shit audio optional!!!' that gets acceptable MPG, won't die on you, and looks pretty good with the factory spoiler (subjective), then it's not a terrible idea, but there are objectively better cars out there.
Now, if you're planning on one day getting an Evo, that's a different story because dealer trade-in (yeah, they still have Evos on lots...) and getting used to the dimensions.

This. I own a 2009 GTS with the 2.4L engine and the cvt transmission. While the lancer is a good car in its way, you can honestly do better in its price range.

Holy fuck, no. Don't buy the Lancer. Buy literally any other car.
