My navy unit has plans to enter a soapbox derby for charity or something and I want on the team.
I've tried to google designs for the things but all I get are kits for sale and soapbox history. Does anyone here have any knowledge or resources to pass on? there's plenty of info on what makes a good CORR or GT car but we're not allowed to have engines

This would be the best shape for your car. This may not be the fastest car, however the soapbox derby takes place on a hill and as we all know going down hill adds at LEAST 100hp. This will definitely give you a psychological edge as well because nobody expects the hachiroku to be fast so when the least expect it you can cut your headlights and pass them in the cover of darkness AND reap the aerodynamic bonus of having your popups retracted. You will surely win.

I'm pretty sure it's all about having it weigh exactly the maximum allowed and keeping most of the weight low and over the axles, which should be free to spin, but not wobbly.

You are all in the navy, so search for the gayest car in existence. Maybe a Prius will do.

Get really good bearings and keep the weight low and wheel base wide.
