All right /o/ I need some assistance. I've got a 2002 Hyundai Elantra and I want to figure out a way to install a 3.5mm aux input into my stock stereo head (pic related).
FM transmitter's out of the question b/c shitty audio quality. Is my only option to get a new head unit? I like the simplicity of the factory stereo. Is there a relatively pain-free way to splice in a 3.5mm input?

I'm sure there's a left and right set of cables behind there. Just get an amp with aux input and coaxial( I think its called) outputs.

Look on the back, some have RCA connectors. If not, just get an aftermarket radio, though most look like riced shit I agree.
The ones with custom LED colours are ok because you can just set it to your cars interior light colour so its less of an eyesore.

don't think it has rca inputs, just this harness. took this screenshot from youtube video removing radio of my exact model and year (to install aftermarket radio).

Get a 3.5mm still bit. Done.

You can still splice some of those wires into RCA's. Fine a wiring harness like pic related.
Connect it to that yellow plug or equivalent.
Look up your cars wiring diagram.
Splice the cables that go to your speakers onto some RCA plugs.
Connect those to amp.
Connect amp to power and aux.
And that's it.
A H/U, dash-kit and wiring harness will cost you under $100 and take 30mins to install.
Just replace it for a new one with AUX/USB/Bluetooth.

i'd still like to keep the shitty stock radio though (w/ broken CD player), more adventure in the DIY route

>Ok OP here's a serious answer.
Get an FM modulator. They have a decent one at Wal-Mart. It's super cheap and relatively easy to install.

Got the official link? All I see is eBay.

This. Better quality than the shitty transmitters and no interference.
