Are all the racing series stuff you guys do in rFactor 2? If so does it need to be on steam for the multiplayer or can it be like a pirated version and multiplayer is still possible? Because I've always wanted to race with you guys but I've never had the games that gets played
>>
>>16317353
The first post you quoted is for a league on 8(fuck you wordfilter)chan, not sure why it's being posted here.

But the second post you quoted is a series in rFactor 2 and yes the cracked game on the wiki does having working multiplayer. There are plans for a series someone is hosting in rFactor 1 as well.

Ok awesome cheers man, will have to get it when I can, should I wait for new a new series to start or is it ok to like join in part way through a series? I kinda feel like I should wait for a new one because I don't wanna join in mid series and then ruin someone's race
>>
>>16317377
Joining mid series is fine. And if you're worried about ruining someone's race then just purposely give yourself plenty of room if you're near somebody until you feel confident enough to go door to door. Oh and use virtual mirrors and pay attention to flags. Pretty simple.
>>
>>16317377
Just turn up to the race senpai, as long as you don't get in the way of people when they lap you (which is ez, just don't be erratic basically) in faster cars you'll be fine, in /ovg/ you can turn up to any race you want basically.
>>
>>16317394
>>16317404
I'm a big fan of proper racing and shit so I normally get out of the way when I know someone is faster than me, I'm just worried that I'll make a mistake or something and take someone out with me, and the fact I haven't played rfactor 2 before will make it a challenge, but that's part of the fun I suppose, hopefully sometime in the near future I'll be able to race with you guys, been wanting it for a long time honestly
>>
>>16317445
just practice until you're confident with the car. you can't get good at driving with other people until you do it, so join soon and get your mileage up
>>
>>16317377
>>16317492
You remind me of me when I joined about 1 year ago. Had the same worries of joining a series midway through or taking someone out but it's honestly not a problem.
Just practice a bit so you can keep your car consistent and safe on the track and you should be fine.
If you're gonna join RANWEC this saturday I'd advise you to join in a GTE car though I don't know if you're already experienced with LMP2 or LMP1 cars

Does the AI cheat in rf1? I'm playing f1 2004 mod and the AI is placing world record times.
>>
>>16318447
You can up the AI to more than 100%, and I think above 125 it starts to cheat maybe.
>>
>>16318447
Every sim makes the AI use different physics that are superior to the actual physics. Even AC, though the devs claim that they don't do that.
>>
>>16318447
You can edit the cpu physics. In almost all the games the AI uses a slightly simplified version of player physics so it takes less of a toll on your processing performance. You can fine tune these settings in your plr.

Unplug, plug back and make sure you press both pedals up to the end to make sure the wheel doesn't calibrate incorrectly.

Still no, but now if I keep the throttle pedal at about 50% it flickers all over the place. Hopefully they can make a proper successor to TDU and not a shit show like TDU2

None of this story bullshit. None of those fucking driving schools. None of that DRIVE thingy or whatever it was that earned you cash for driving past someone fast.

Just a classic free roam. Play your own game. Buy your own cars and houses. Do whatever races when you want how you want.

I don't care if the road quality is a tiny bit subpar. I just want a varied car selection. A good amount of roads (1k+ km would be great). Varied roads from winding rural to inner city to tight, technical mountain. It doesn't even have to be a real area.

Just give us the old TDU back, with modern graphics. Hell, even the UI stands up IMO.

Dear sim racer,

With eSports and sim racing growing rapidly, time has come to structure sim racing across a multitude of simulators and countries. Therefore, the International Sim Racing Federation has sprung from initiators from various backgrounds.

The non-profit organisation will focus entirely on developing the sport of sim racing, creating racing and business opportunities for its members, associations, communities and leagues. The structure of the federation is entirely democratic, and currently in recruiting phase for its first official board.

The federation is backed by several associations, communities, teams and high profile sim racers across the globe, and has already attracted companies and game developers to work together on common goals.

The idea for the federation was introduced at the 2016 Sim Racing Expo at the Nürburgring, with several associations, communities and teams at a meeting, where the concept was further developed and the initial formation of the interim board was made.

According to the game plan developed in the expo, the board and managing positions of the ISRF are now open for applications from all across the world, after which it starts working on its goals, which is to structure and improve the sport of sim racing.

Dear shitposter,

With eSports and sim racing being literally ded, time has come to structure sim racing across a multitude of simulators and countries. Therefore, the Association of Underdeveloped Teenagers for Internet Simulated Motorsports has sprung from neets from various backgrounds.

The non-profit organisation will focus entirely on developing the sport of creating drama, creating circlejerking opportunities for its members, associations, communities and leagues. The major problem I had with TDU2 was that you could Ilene redo races to earn their full reward. This really puts to a lot I limit to what you can an for cannot buy. Where in TDU you could, with some grinding, buy every single thing.
>>
>>16319712
I never got very far into TDU because they made me start in an Audi TT and I couldn't afford any of the other cars after I bought it, not that there was really anything else to buy.
Is it worth trying to unlock stuff?
>>
>>16319669
Since the original devs went on to make the Crew (which was alright, definitely better than TDU 2), I have no hope for this Test Drive Unlimited to be any good.

>Bigben adds Test Drive to its IP catalogue, which also includes WRC and TT Isle of Man

Oh yeah, the Isle of Man game, what's with that? I can't find any news on it, apart from the announcement early this year.

Fucking hell bro, did you even play TDU?

You do 5 races in E Class and you can afford a D Class Mustang IIRC. You gain access to more races by buying larger collections of houses and cars until you can do the two larger races. Tour of the Island (No class restriction. 200k. 45 minutes with a fast car. 200k + Alfa 8C reward first time) and The Millionaires Challenge (A Class. 45 minutes again with an mA Class bike with stage 3. 1 million reward.)

If those don't take your fancy, the Speed Challenges are the easy part. 190mph in heavy traffic. B Class only but easy as FUCK with a Chevy Corvette ZO6 with stage 3. Costs $71k + like 150k for stage 3. Pays for itself in 4 1/2 races or maybe 5 minutes work.

>Is it worth trying to unlock stuff?
Some of the stuff you unlock can be good, but the game aged like shit because of the PS1 tier road surfaces. Also, don't play it if you've become triggered by butchered post-op trannies because you won't even go past the initial character selection.

>The Nordschleife is the hardest track in the world
Is this a meme or have I just driven it too much?
I find for example Bathurst to be way harder to be quick around.
>>
>>16324041
Nord's probably harder IRL thanks to worse conditions, and since it can rain in one part of the track, and be sunny on the other.
>>
>>16324041
>Is this a meme or have I just driven it too much?
A little from column A, a little from column B. Bathfarts, like any temporary street track, has walls at the edge of the road which are always riskier to be near than the edge of the grass that scares casuals. Also the people that most repeat "The Nordschleife is the hardest track in the world" meme are people who suck so something longer than two minutes per lap is hardest for specifically them because they don't want to admit they suck too much to keep their shit together longer than two minutes at a time.

It's a bit of a meme. It has been glorified over the recent years by many motoring shows, car manufacturers, and video games.

But it's quite a hard track if you're a bit inconsistent and crash, or if you're trying to race in a pack but are a casual that can't hold back for 2 minutes and just tuck behind your opponent, as it's quite narrow and divebombs are usually bad ideas.

Bathurst is like 75% straights man. The downhill might be marginally harder than the most difficult part of the Nurburgring (I don't know if I'd even buy that) but there's only one of it not 10.

Now there are very few people who can really properly push the entire lap of the Nordschleife anyways (especially as different as game renditions aee) so if you're pussying around or making mistakes the entire time you might not lose out so much while Bathurst has a huge divide between people that have learned the track properly and dudes smashing a wall on their out lap 20 times in a row
>>
>>16324672
it's not really. They have narrowed tracks a lot since WRC5. https://youtu.be/TdZAP8LPw_g Also co-pilot is not a robot anymore. It's still shit compared to DIRT Rally since it's still using soundbites and is not recorded per track.

I can't imagine the IP was particularly expensive given how long ago/technically fucked TDU2 was, so its a cheap way to buy a "legitimate" IP to get some leverage maybe.

They'll probably still fuck it up though, also now Forza Horizon and The Crew exist its not a unique concept.

I'm even more scared that this will kill the modding scene for all of simracing, because then the modders will argue "Well, if people pay for rF2 mods, they will also pay for AC mods or AMS mods" and then there will be loads of people buying them and it will all go downhill from there

>$2.50 on every $10 goes back to the mod creator
>the sim community is tiny so to make any decent return, content creators will have to charge exorbitant amounts of money
good job, good effort

I'm ok with allowing for the creators to get some type of funding if they ask for it, but that should be it. No car mod has been worth paying for, fucking ISI can't even put out enough decent content to make the game purchase and "lifetime subscription" worth it. This whole thing is such a shitshow. I hope this backfires spectacularly but unfortunately sim dads will probably eat this up.

What do businesses not understand about introducing money into a place where mods are expected to be free will fuck up the community and result in less participants and less content?

Pretend pilot fags are more than pretend racecarfags

>>
>>16329356
>Remember, pretend pilotfags actually WILL pay for something up to a price of a full game for their mods.

These mods are unbelievably expensive, but many of them are licensed, and all of them come with additional tools to set up the plane ingame, are massively detailed, have loads of customisation options and are very well documented (sometimes even with the original manuals and shit)

Compare this to URD. Let's take a look at the LMP & GTE mods ,which are their most popular mods
>No descriptions and barely any screenshots on the website.
>No documentation on the cars. Stuff like instructions on how to put your own skin into the game or the exact differences between some of the tire compounds (It just says S7 and S8 have differences in tire wear and temperatures, but it doesn't say what the exact differences are)
>No customization options apart from the wing angle and a different front grille texture, which is especially laughable if you compare it to what many free mods offer
>stuff like the LMP1 Nissan having 6 gear transmission instead of a 5 gear transmission
>templates being flat out broken
>half the price of the base game for 11 cars that all have these problems

This is just unacceptable, even for a free mod it would be bad. But yet so many people go around saying how it's such a great mod that's worth every penny. And I fear it's only going to become worse
>>

Yeah I think it's the best version rFactor 1. Pretty funny how it looks way better than just about every other racing game too. A shame it'll never be popular around here though with it costing money and all that.

Don't put words in my mouth nigger I do agree the pricing model is beyond retarded. The whole reason rF1 and rF2 have been popular around here is because of it being piratable (and in the case of rF1 low system requirements).

The game is not popular anywhere because nobody wants to be anally violated to play rFactor. AC and console games are plenty popular here by comparison and barely anybody cares about rF2.

Having to pay for separate content by itself scares people off, and I don't blame them if you look at something like iRacing for comparison where 2 tracks and 2 cars can buy you an actual video game. Would be much better off if they just charged $60 or w/e for (most of) the content.

Just launch groove or whatever music player you use and play your music in the background.

Yeah really. I'm already looking forward to the tapdancing the URDrones are going to have to do to when their speshul phizzix don't compare favourably to a good GTE/GTLM car.

>>16333423
At least it's a car still raced in reality, that's already an improvement over the ISI-era of rF2.

>>16333443
Yeah, instead they make two examples of classic Camel cars all at once to conjure a new series ... of cars so hard to drive that almost nobody can without setting fire to their SR, so the series pretty much dies to Radical-tier participation after one season. You wouldn't want to have made two GTE cars, or two GT4 cars, or two more GT3 cars or something else that would get raced by (and sold to) like everyfuckingbody on the road side.

Yea i don't get why they made the GTO and the Nissan. Sure they are cool as fuck to drive, but noone ever asked for them. They should seriously start to only expand and replace their old as fuck cars with some new ones instead of adding these niche cars that noone drives.

Like the Solstice, Jetta or KIA could use a replacement.

The three MX-5s do that job just fine, and all for free. All three series you can race the ND get really good participation too.

>Like the ... Jetta or KIA could use a replacement.
I agree, but only in theory. Participation for both of those cars has sucked ass forever. Pick any FWD touring car or cars out of reality (BTCC, WTCC, TCR, '90s Super Touring, current Mini or Clio Cuppers, idgaf) are you sure they'd ever sell enough of them for it to be useful exercise? Meanwhile they don't have any current LMP (1 or 2), current GTE, current GT4, current DTM or SuperGT silhouettes, etc. I don't think FWD racers pull in any users myself, but I'm prepared to be impressed.

>>16333588
>Look man back when they announced the Daytona Prototype it was brand new.
Yeah okay good point. That's one. When LFS announced the Scirocco, the real car wasn't out yet and now that car is no longer produced and it still isn't in LFS ... so there's announcements and there's production. When the C7.R comes out into rF2 we'll know the car production rate of S397 (not ISI lel), and be able to compare it to other current sims, and thereafter continue bitching about how modders suck too much to fill out a field with the four other cars in that class even with one official car to base the class around.

Yea that's a good point. I just wish they would have some series like GT3 where there are multiple cars that race each other, instead of only Mazda, only Cadillac etc..
