Anyone ever own a Karmann Ghia? Given how cheap they are, I'm a little bit tempted to buy one up and make a poor man's Alpine out of it.
>cheap
since when
theyre overpriced Beetles which are overpriced themselves

I've seen a few selling for around $5k, and I imagine VW-based parts are pretty cheap and easy to find.

100% the floor pan is rusted out and most of what you see on the body is duct tape and bondo.

Eh, maybe, it's not like I've gone to take a look at any of these in person, but I've found a few that look pretty clean, like this for example:

The only places where I've seen prices much higher than this are wide auction sites and listings in affluent areas where entitled sellers hit you with the 'IKNOWWHATIGOT' tax.
if i had one instead of my evo i would do a turbo +free valve conversion and leave it looking exactly the way it was when i bought it but with real balls for a powerplant
Location is a big factor. OP is not on a coast.
KGs are fun.
I really think they're gorgeous cars. I would love to own one.
How's the headroom in those things ?
What about the convertible (top up, of course) ?
