>It's fire reduction dipshit
No. No its not. I worked for Toyota/Lexus dealership. It's called the NVH system (noise vibrational harshness) it's noise reduction. That is all. With Lexus they go the extra mile and add more but it's mainly done to add an extra level of "perceived refinement" 95percent of Lexus owners didn't even top off their own wiper fluid, let alone know HOW to do it. The other 5 percent know how but that sort of task is beneath them and best left to Lexus techs.
The whole "fire prevention" shit people think is under the hood is some weird old wives tale left over from the uber crooked car salesmen of decades past. That "blanket" on the underside of the hood IS NOT to put out engine fires. Engine fire are no where near common enough to require a fire blanket built into the hood. It's MAIN function is to reduce engine heat on the hood itself so as not to cause premature failure of the paint/clearcoat from constant high temps. The noise cancellation and related are all secondary.
If a car salesman ever trys to tell/sell you on under hood stuff being fire suppressant, call his dumbass out on it.

I know newer Audi's have electronic dipsticks. You check the oil level in the infotainment system inside the car. However this requires a few basic criteria to be met, like a warm engine. So go fuck yourself if you want to check if you actually have oil when starting up a car with a known leak or on a cold day.

But I've also seen these engines still have the dipstick hole, it's just not used by an actual dipstick. Perhaps you could buy some VAG special tool dipstick.

>i've heard that some manufacturers are making motors without a way to check oil, so you just have to do a full oil change.

Where is this "I heard that" source? You heard it in your head as you made up the question?

Automatic transmissions still allow checking of the fluid, but the check location was moved to be inconvenient to the common consumer as there was no real need with modern transmissions to be serviced except at the recommended service point many many miles into the future. Having a dipstick easily available would mean dust, moisture, or even inappropriate or too much fluid would be added to the transmission by careless consumers. Careless people are probably a greater threat than the modern sealed automatic transmission running out of fluid. So keep that fluid check location in an obscure place Mr Manufacturer! That was a good decision to avoid the most common failure point for sealed transmissions - the careless consumer.

>how do you change your battery when its hidden under the firewall like that?
Not that guy, but changing the batteries in my car is a semi-big deal. Both the computer and the security system have to be reset to talk to each other. After the car's main electronics and security allows the car to be started and door locks to be used properly, the entertainment system then needs to be synched up or else it will not work. The car also has two batteries. One is under the hood (starter, engine, main systems) and the other is in the trunk (lights, systems, pumps, electronics, etc).

This. I've toured the Mazda plant in Hiroshima a couple times, and it's pretty cool to watch them bolting the whole drivetrain and subframe into a new (FWD) car in one step. Saves a lot of trouble. The PPF design used on all Miatas, the FD RX-7, and (if memory serves) the RX-8 also allows this method of assembly.

Lower prices sell cars, and transverse FWD makes cars cheaper. The drawbacks are something the average consumer is unlikely to give two shits about.
