Hey I want to buy a used BMW E90 (320i) with 150.000 km on.
Does anyone know when do I have to change the timing chain if it didn't got changed yet?
>>16307658
Shouldn't have to change the chain, why are you asking?
>>16307687
I'm intrested because one guy who wanted to sell me a E90 told me that the chain has to be changed

lifetime part.

>smallest engine
get a 335d or get a different car.
>>16307717
okay thanks
>>16307703
Well either the owner is an idiot, or the car has led a rough life

>320i
Didn't that engine have timing chain issues? Do a good trawl, I am sure I heard something about that. Might be what he is referring to?
Failing that, get a 6cyl. 325i or 330i is probably the safest best for reliability. Diesel ones are a nightmare when they get older so I would avoid them if you are looking at reasonably cheap older ones.

I don't know, I will have a look on that.
Sadly there are no 325/330i here and I really need to change the car so I will probably go with 320 first

>>16308008
yes, the engine has timing chain issues, just like the diesels up to 06/2010
>>16307658
you change it when it makes noises
if its like in the diesels thats a pretty expensive repair

Get a Mazda 3 in manual instead.
