This leak on my car is the never ending fucking story. Thermostat housing is leaking from the bottom. Tried sealing with only JB Weld Water Pump silicone.
Didn't work.
Ordered an OEM gasket from Toyota.
Still leaking with the gasket AND silicone.
How the fuck do I seal this shit, /o/. It's on a 16v 4A-GE.
What should I use?
>>16280004
REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT AND GASKET DUMBASS.
>>16280048
read the OP I DID DUMBASS
>>16280068
silicone only works if everything is clean and dry.
no oil
no coolant
nothing on there.
take it all apart and make sure everything is spotless and try again

Quick question
>>16280068
But... you didn't replace the thermostat.
>>16280196
i acutally did. forgot to mention it in op. SORRY

check the housing and head for nicks and gouges
trade it in for a honda fit
>>16280004
>put housing on flat surface, make the housing is actually flat (try sliding a piece of paper under it)
>clean surface vigorously.
>Use paper towels & brake cleaner/carb cleaner to clean surfaces.
>clean hands (no oily fingers)
>apply silicone gasket to surfaces
>slap on cardboard gasket
>put everything together. torque down to tight to squeeze out air bubbles (don't go insane, don't break anything)
>let sit for 24 hours
>try tightening it again
>pour water in slowly

Sell your weeb trash

To add, it should be a very thin layer of silicone gasket. Apply it with your fingers if necessary
Blast it with piss
