I got a 2016 Volvo S60 Inscription with the Platinum package and essentially all options for $35,000. It's definitely a luxury car. It's got extremely comfortable bucket style seats, outstanding outside noise dampening, a quality sound system, radar cruise control, etc. Can't go wrong with a Volvo.

1.93m here. My experience with the A and CLA hasn't been great; they're both fairly cramped inside. When I'm in my optimal driving position, I bang my head on the roof beam, and there is NO leg room behind me. Contrast this with for example a Golf, where I can easily sit 'behind' myself.
Take this with a grain of salt, as I have big shoulders and big legs, and like to sit fairly upright in cars. So if you're more limber or like a more laid-back driving position it might work for you. But overall, the interior packaging aren't very good.
In complete disagreement with the vast majority of this thread, apparently, I have no problems with the quality and design of the interior of the two.

Luxury cars are notoriously unreliable because they're overengineered. They have complicated, turbocharged engines under a lot of stress. Pretty much the entire car is made of complicated parts rather than cheap simple ones because the designers know that their customers usually have the money for expensive repairs. So every inch of the car is designed for maximum comfort and performance, completely ignoring reliability. Lexuses, Acuras, and the old Town Car are really the only exceptions.

And of course everything GM makes is known for having garbage build quality, so when you add in the luxury overengineering I was talking about, you end up with a maintainence nightmare. Cadillac makes some great cars nowadays but it's safe to assume they wont be reliable.

If you want a lid over your cup holders (and not saying you do, but designers apparently think you do), I think a sliding one is the way to go, as opposed to a hinged one, as it's less in the way.
Console leather, I really have no idea. It might be a design decision, it might be a cost measure, but I think I get your underlying point; that non-back interiors where just the seats and doorcards are another colour look at bit too dropped-in, if I may call it that.
It's got bluetooth. They keypad is probably a remnant, the core design is well over seven years old at this point.

Anyway. I don't know why I'm suddenly the honorary Swede (as if there is such a thing) of the thread, but in person, I do find Volvos rather nice. Comfortable, friendly handling, nice NVH qualities.
