>built for the Chinese market
>Chinese model is stripped down in features
Cannot make this shit up

Because the Lincoln brand has a higher prestige in China so Lincoln knows they can gouge Chinese buyers and charge high prices for options. Same with Buick in China.
>>16245591
The Chinese are one of the cheapest races on the planet. All they want to do is look good for the lowest price possible. Hence the Genesis Gwhatever.

I don't get it. Yea, BMW sells stripped down versions of their cars in Europe and not to the US, so they can market their entry level shit in the US as "luxury" rather than just premium, but at least BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc... have cars like the M5/M6, 750Li, RS7, R8, AMG GTS, S63 AMG, etc... That's the reason why those brands are considered prestigious and are the cars buyers of the 3 series and CLA look up to. What the fuck does Buick or Lincoln have to offer that makes them so alluring?

Because they don't sell you a turd sandwich by dangling foie gras in front of you
>>16247210
Big American cars are seen as glamorous in a weird pre-war idealistic kind of way.
They represent "excess" in cultures where frugality is the norm.
>>16247244
First of all it sounds like you're one of the suckers considering you used foie gras as an example of something "nice" just because it's expensive....
Secondly, I was using those examples because considering Audi is capable of the R8 and Mercedes can build the SL65 AMG, maybe, just maybe they know how to build nice cars. Why the fuck would I buy a supposedly high end luxury car from a company that primarily makes FWD shitboxes?
>>16245591
Ford is fucking stupid. Chair man Mao drove a Buick, that's why Chinese love Buicks. No one fucking drove a Lincoln. What is ford even trying to do in China besides built shitty car parts?
>>16247292
The chinese probably dont see excessively powerful luxury sports car things as true luxury.
They just want something that looks good inside and out, rides well, and has a shitload of legroom in the back so they can be driving around by some farm peasant.
>>16247210
iirc, the last Emperor had a few Buicks, founder of the ROC had 4 or something, Mao had one, and another Chinese Premier had one
In the mind of a Chinese person, it's a huge deal if you can own the same brand of car that multiple leaders owned
>>16245591
Apparently they think the Chinese don't want the high trims.
>>16247176
That doesn't make any sense. If Chinese want the prestige they would want the high trims. Not giving them the high trims, when they know they don't get the high trims, sounds like a surefire way to not sell as much as you could.
>>16249063
trim doesn't give face. Only the exterior badge does.
>>16247292
but foi gras is fuckig delicious

>Interestingly, heritage of the brand is a huge factor for Chinese buyers and every Lincoln dealership will have a “heritage room” with a classic Lincoln on display and plenty of retro photographs. Lincoln plays heavily on its presidential past and there were no shortage of Kennedy pictures on the wall.
>Despite having never officially sold a single car in China, the brand has some decent recognition. An “ultimate luxury” exhibit in the Beijing Auto Museum (in-depth article and video coming soon) placed a 1932 Lincoln dual cowl Phaeton centre stage and was perennially mobbed by people photographing the car and being photographed with it.
