knowing kias in general, this one probably has nothing but plastic, some shit leather, and all the dashboard pieces rattle like a motherfucker

I miss the days where cars would make power from their engine

So where's this gonna sit in the market? Somewhere up against the 340i? I mean, I doubt they'd just launch a head-on attack on the M3.

Competition is a good thing, would you idiots say the same thing about Honda in the 80's? Should they have stayed making cheap garbage?
>>
>>16239906
TTV6 making 390hp/394lb-ft. I think this little gem would be great to scoop up in the used market a few years from now. Give it a CAI, downpipe, and tune and you could possibly break the 400whp mark.

Cheap and reliable =/= garbage. Objectively the fit and finish of every honda on the market has improved drastically compared to similar offerings from competitors. There is literally nothing wrong with an Accord for example, other then being boring for enthusiasts.

>>16240091
They made cars, some people bought them. They are objectively improving.
>someone hasn't made an F1 engine therefor they shouldn't try to make better cars for the USDM

I'm not saying you have to buy fucking KIA, but jesus acting like they are not allowed to encroach on other price points is fucking stupid.

Or I guess we could assign price points and predefined automotive catagories and only allow each automaker to sell at that level, like some kind of retarded communist shithole.

That way they never have to worry about any possible competition!

The automaker was rated the No. 1 brand in J.D. Power's annual survey of new model reliability, making it the first nonluxury brand to top the list since 1989.

"Ten years ago they were on the other end [of the rankings] and they've been slowly moving up, and moving up by leaps and bounds in the last few years," said Renee Stephens, vice president of U.S. automotive quality at J.D. Power.

Last year, the brand ranked No. 2.

Now, we can take some weight off of this ruling because >JDPOWER, but to suggest they aren't making improvements, and are somehow worse than other companies is blatantly retarded.

Yo, owner of a 2013 Kia Forte Koup here. At 50K miles the top end is louder than my 160K mile Sunfire with the Quad 4 in it and the front end rattles something fierce.

Interior panels are assorted plastics, some rattles here and there, not the worst but it's ok for a lower end model.

FWIW I think it was a good purchase, but I won't say Kia is some high end awesome brand over it.

Please elaborate how this statement is relevant to the discussion of the reliability of the Kia brand.

"everyone is getting better" is not a counterpoint to "Kia is making improvements"

I'm trying to understand the point you are making here.

If you are suggesting that "everyone improved at the same rate therefor kia is still at the bottom" is blatantly untrue, even if we ignore various publications we can look at the market share as a whole and see staggering dropoffs with brands like Mitsubishi or Nissan for example.

There's a reason for that offset, it puts the steering axis closer to the center of the tire. The distance between the center of the tire and where the steering axis hits the road is called the scrub radius, and having the scrub radius as close to zero as possible is much better for steering. It reduces steering effort, it reduces torque steer, and it reduces kickback from road surface inconsistencies.

Dude. That "numb and boring" post was literally my first comment in this thread. I'll admit I didn't feel like reading the rest of the thread so maybe I'm beating a dead horse.

But I stand by what I've said. No korean sports car has gotten the handling and steering down so I don't think a big RWD 4 door is going to change that.

I bet her engine was low on oil for most of it's life and she probably ignored that "genie lamp light" All they have to do is look at the fault codes in the ECU and tell her to fuck off.

The moral of the story is: Take care of your shit or lease it and give it back before it explodes.

That's why I'm against turbo motors in econoboxes. You have to stay on top of oil changes on a turbo engine. I don't blame them for having such strict intervals and fucking you over if you you go way over the time period.
>>
>>16241080
You think Kia engine are the norm for turbo but they're not. There are actually good turbo engines that are overbuilt and don't burn out their own oil. It's sad that people don't know that exists. Hyundai thinks they can just take an old Mitsu engine architecture and be as reliable as everyone else. That's what untalented gooks that just don't get it really believe they can do and get away with it.
>>
>>16241093
>There are actually good turbo engines that are overbuilt and don't burn out their own oil.

Name one.
>>
>>16241093

Even expensive ass Japanese engineered Subaru's blow their engines before 50k miles all the time. If even they still can't get their shit together I don't blame KIA for fucking up a couple engines.
>>

>>
>>16241093

>>
>>16241114

>>
>>16241125

Because having a faulty airbag is so much better right?
>>
>>16241114
Volvos never die.
>>
>>16241125

Kia had an issue with there turbo engines blowing because they used weren't rated for how hot cylinder 4 would get and would break crack the plug.
>>
>>16241141
>>16241150

Because they have a 2.5l 600lb chunk of cast iron putting out 140hp @ 2.5 psi... hardly an engineering feat.
>>
>>16241133
I bought a 1988 turbo Japanese I4 with 200+ on it in 1999 and when I took it for emissions testing, the tech said it had better readings than a brand new 99 Civic non turbo. That engine when I bought it had a collapsed lifter for so long from a lack of oil change that eventually the rocker arm snapped from whacking so hard. I bought that car in that condition, changed the rocker arm, changed the oil and then registerd it and took it for the emission test I mentioned above.

>abused so bad a rocker arm snapped
>ran perfectly after just replacing it
>never burned any oil

So, I don't forgive shitty engineering in 2016.
>>
>>16241141
Gee, I don't know why I would ask for an answer to an automotive claim on a board about automobiles. You type like a schizo.

Anyway, SAAB had problems with turbos and oil burning, Koineggieregg is hardly a consumer car, I don't know much about Volvo.

You're just an idiot if "you could see that", sorry.

You don't take a FF platform and then suddenly put an engine and drivetrain the back. It doesn't work like that at all. This isn't legos or some shit.

If they made a MR Veloster, it would be on its own platform. They aren't going to simply offer a "MR option" on the Veloster that's made for FF.
>>

Using a turbo that requires oil in a shitbox is pretty retarded.

There should be no need for it. And oil-less turbo should be fine.

>>
>>16241312
Ya. Why do we even need oil is it a fucking scam? They just want to make you buy the stuff when you don't really even need it. And why can't we have cars with an engine in the front and the back? There could be a performance model with gas engines at each wheel why don't they do that they're so dumb.
>>
>>16241323

An "MR option" wasnt implied, geez m8. However, there is absolutely nothing stopping the from badging two platforms under the same moniker. Renault literally did that for the Clio/V6.

And what do you think the MR Veloster concepts are based on anyway?

Protip: existing FF Velosters.
>>

The MR Renault Clio shares little in common with the FF one.
