Hey /o/, i'm looking for some advice. I drive a 2000 S10. Today I was driving and I just started having trouble shifting. It shifts fine in every gear, it's not rough, or jerky, or anything. It shifts smooth as butter, but then once I tried getting past 50-55 mph, it couldn't. It just hovered at 3,000 RPM. I haven't had this problem before and, like I said, it shifts into every other gear fine. Looking into it, I think it might be fuel related. Even in lower gears, when I really press the accelerator down hard it doesn't accelerate well. When I'm accelerating I have to gradually give it gas or else it won't take it. I don't want to say it's getting bogged down, but that might be it. What does /o/ think?

Well what is it? nigger

I should have said it shifts fine in every gear up until I get to 50-55 mph. Then it just won't shift up at all. It just hovers at 3000 RPM.

Do you mean increase rpms?

My truck normally shifts right at 3,000, maybe 3,200. What happens is it gets to near where it would normally shift and then just won't move. I tried flooring it and I still can't get it past 3,000ish RPMs. I can't break the 3,000 and I don't redline until 7,000 IIRC. I'm just stuck at 3,000.
Sounds like its not shifting into overdrive properly.
I got a 96 S10 with the 4.3 and it won't do much past 3000 rpm either. I just learned to live with it.
So is what you are saying only 5th gear won't go past 3000 rpm? Or every gear?

Plugged catalytic convertor.

Yes. This exactly. I wasn't sure if it was my 4th or 5th gear. I didn't want to say one or the other just to avoid confusion.
lol shoulda bought a mnaul

Sounds like your overdrive might be pooched. I dont know much about auto overdrive and all that jazz. So as far as technical info i cant help
I have a 2002 s10 zr2 so dont take this as hate but chevy auto transmissions from that era arent really the greatest. Should have bought a standard.

It very well could be this.
You said your engine was having a hard time getting past or making power past 3,000 RPM...therefor your transmission is not the problem, and it is either fuel or spark....or a congested exhaust system.
S10's and S10 Blazers have a shitty fuel injection system which will leak and flood your engine...and take out your converters.
