Hey /o/, I'm going to be looking at a 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i in a few days. Anything I should keep in mind while inspecting it?

Head gaskets were already on my list, anything else?
Maybe wheel bearings, brakes, etc especially if it's been used off road a lot. Heat shields will rattle after a while too. Minor shit.
Also timing belt depending on mileage.

On top of what has already been stated, look at the axle boots. The inner passenger side one is right above the cat so it tends to tear before the others. Check the coolant too. Some ej25s leak internally and the coolant will get dirty quickly but the car may not show other signs of a blown head gasket.

"You" don't inspect it, (YOU) take it to a shop for full inspection. Run the VIN, ask for service records

That's what fags do.

Mileage is 138,000km

I'm inspecting it, then taking it to a shop for them to inspect, I'd rather spend $100 dollars finding out if a car's a lemon than a few thousand

>Depreciation of value
My first car was a 98 civc, thing was fucking gutless, also I live pretty far to the north and an awd is pretty much necessary. Subaru's also tend to keep their value up here, last week I saw a stock 03 impreza wagon with 115,000km on it go for $8000. That shit wasn't even special edition or anything

It's just in time for a timing belt replacement. Ask PO for receipt or prepare for a several hundred dollar service. While they are in there tell them to do the water pump as well. Maybe even the head gaskets too if it worries you. Bargain that thing down, as you're entering the sweet spot of when Subarus begin to need their first major cash infusion. Then they're good for another 90K miles.
My cousin has 265K miles on his 90's Outback.

Thanks, luckily the car comes with all the maintenance receipts

Do you vape? If not, you should probably pass.
