i just want a god damn mercedes but no matter what i will buy it will turn into a moneypit REEE
Buy a 124. Problem solved.
Depends on where you get your parts and how good you are at wrenching
Also; dont buy one that has been owned by a complete retard

if you find a 124 with less than 300k on the clock it is usually priced way too high and named collectors special
Damn that thing looks like shit

My SLK hasn't been a moneypit...
Get a big engined one, people tend not to have driven them as much because "my mpg"
Then get very good at searching eBay for "breaking"
Source: I own a clk 430 which I bought with a fucked roof. Total cost of parts to fix = £430

My W203 C240 wagon has no issues except worn bushings from age, and I bought it in the stupidest way possible (dirt lot dealer, no service history)
My grandparents' e320 that I was given has been pretty damn reliable and is fairly decent to drive for a DD.
May not be what you're looking for, but you could do a lot worse.
Comfy, good mileage, reliable, and it's not too horribly difficult to round up parts for.

om605/606 are practically bulletproofs diesels engines that weren't driven hard.
