I'm going to buy a new car soon, and it has to fill a really particular niche. I need a car I can drive through the winter then paint and sell early summer. In order to make money on it I'm looking for something extremely unreliable that also has failed clearcoat but no rust or body damage, so late 80s to mid 90s is best. It also needs to be an enthusiast car preferably to make it easier to sell to someone who knows a little about them and will understand why one with a high quality paintjob and the mechanicals gone through is important. What I've been looking for -
8 series - any of them, would prefer an 840ci. Looked at one 850i but it was too roasted
Audi 4000 quattro
Mercedes 190e Cosworth
DuoSelect Quattroporte that needs a clutch
Alfa GTV6 and 164
Anything I'm missing in my craigslist rounds? Not interested in anything Japanese.
The Quattro and 190e are by far the coolest of the list. The 8 is cool too, but I prefer 4 doors personally.

I think those would be the easiest projects for me too

I really don't see any money to be made by fixing one and flipping it, though they fit most of the criteria

It's a thought, I worked on one that was traded in to a dealership I worked at many years ago, was pretty unimpressed with it but maybe I'll feel differently now that I don't care so much about how fast street cars are
>mechanically simple
>shitty clearcoat as standard
>doesn't rust
pic related. lotus esprit too
