Hello, /o/,. recently inherited an 01 Infiniti QX4 (Pathfinder) with 160K on the clock. As I was about to change the oil and filter, i noticed this sizeable leak has developed under the engine block right behind the front axle. Looks like there is nowhere for it to come from since the leak starts by some random metal piece not connected to any liquids. Any thoughts. I can take more pics.
Also I know the filter is leaking its ancient from sitting for a few years.

Spray it all down with an engine degreaser, and then blast any remaining rough spots with brake clean.
When its nice and clean, start her up, idle, and watch for new leaks. If nothing after a few minutes, go for a quick drive down the block, pull over, and inspect again.

If I had to guess the way the oil creeps up top it is valve covers,which means time for new gaskets given the age is most logical anyways.

Good idea I'll look at that. Its hard to get a look at the cramped engine lol
