I am 25 in march, I am looking to to buy my first car after riding a motorcycle for almost 2 years now. I have been driving my mother's corolla from time to time. I seek something I can find under $10k and that is fun. Can you guys lend a hand?
Cars I have been looking at is the MR2, mini cooper, and a bmw z3.
I am looking for something fun. I have been suggested to get a camry because they are reliable. But I don't want a family car, I need something fun.
The mr2 mk3 is reliable and cheap to own. Mine is at 200.000 kilometers now and the only critical thing that have failed is the power steering. (and the engine when it was new). Also its fun, at least where I live where there are no highways.

You can get a pretty nice Porsche Boxster under 10k.
My first car was a second gen MR2 and for the last two years my daily is an MR2 Spyder.
If you can live with the lack of passenger space and your work or hobbies don't require you to bring really long things I'd definitely recommend it.
The agility and nimbleness is amazing for a car in its price range and the power to weight is pretty good to.
It won't set great quarter mile times but stock should do low 15s compared to the NA's 16's according to http://www.zeroto60times.com/.
I've driven quite a few MX5's and at 6'4"they are just a bit too small for me, I know some modifications can fix that but the MR2 just fits.
Also, the MR2 has some small advantages over the MX5 and also some cons, but for a daily it's just nitpicking comparing stats for these two.
Tips on getting one are pretty simple.
- Get a hardtop if possible.
- Check oil consumption (google precat mr2)
- Get the manual with the torsen diff if possible
- Get quality tyres, it makes or breaks a light sportscar.
Things like Boxsters and S2000's are much more expensive and wheigh ~250kg more which is a lot for these kinds of thing.

>reliable
>power steering failed
>engine failed when new
Wut

I think the engine was seized by either the internals of the precats or was run dry because the 1ZZ has notorious oil burning problems and oil pump failure, I think.

Why get a Sportscar? Nothing you drive will ever be as dynamic as your bike. Get a hauler like a truck or something comfy to road trip like an s class

>first car at 24

Absolutely disgusting.
