The reason nitrous works is that there is more oxygen in there than there is in air, allowing you to inject nore fuel

Remember in school how they showed you the fire triangle?

assuming your air/fuel ratios stayed correct, maap gas could give you a more complete burn assuming you had an inefficient combustion chamber. this could possibly add power, but would require proper tuning and sub optimal combustion conditions in the motor it was being applied to.
