if you are looking at mini here are a few spots where rust happens allot

battery box
rear sub frame mounts
roof gutters esp the corners
door sills and lower door seam

also the rubber springs shrink and loose their bounce

the stock wheel size for the mini is 10x4.5
12x5 can be put on but is the upper limit without making big changes to the wheel arches

because the sump is so low to the ground it can collide with curbs
one type of crash damage to look for is a bent front subframe

the mini can be de seamed to give a 15% reduction in frontal area

and if you want a larger engine bay the clubman body style offers that
