Hilux Appreciation Thread
I've been driving these things every time I get sent overseas and swear my life on them. First in Afghanistan we went almost everywhere and they help up like champs. Some of the roads north of Kabul International were barely passable and I could see the truck bed and cab flexing independently. The road between Bagram and Kabul was worse and they still held up.
Then for the last year I was up at Thule AB, Greenland and drove around in an equally robust Hilux that saved my life thanks to my fucked up recovery from some black ice I hit. It was flipped back over, panels fixed, and trudges on to this day. They were of course used in equally rough conditions.
Top Gear impressed me, actual hands on use sold me on em. God damn you Toyota for not offering them stateside (The Tacoma is NOT the same truck FYI. They have very different designs).

I don't like the new hiluxes anyway but my old '88 one does not give me any shit whatsoever, it's fucking indestructible
If i said some of the abuse it has taken on here, /o/ would shit all over me but if i were to have one truck for the apocalypse, that'd be it
They dont sell the hilux because nobody would buy it. If it wasn't for top gear memes, no one would even care.
Wonder how much of a pain it would be to import a diesel Hilux.
Already own a Tacoma.

Most 80's or 90's domestic trucks would survive the Top Gear memes. A small diesel truck would be nice though.

California.
Itd be perfect too since the Smog Exemption for Diesels is 1996.

>no. 1 selling trucc in the world
>diesel light trucc
>mexican equivalent of a ford ranger
>toyota dependability lasting into the new years
It's all the memes, though
How many other people bought a Tacoma because that's the closest burgerland thing to hilux?
Feels bad man
Aussie hilux owner. Can vouch, I have seen fish out of my windscreen before and it loved it.

Diesel trucks for common consumer usage won't catch on now that VW soiled the bed for diesels in general.
