I'm not sure about the auto transmission reliability. I owned a 2008 Mazda 6 new and just sold it this year, with 165k miles. The engine blew before the auto transmission (Which is perfectly fine, no slipping gears or anything.), because my dumbass big brother never changed the spark plugs when I let him borrow it until he got his new truck.

anon, you'll love it. I have an ms3, but it has the same suspension layout. Mazda really knows how to make a daily driver handle well, and the steering is amazing. Im also sure they have a slapshift if you want to row through gears like a rally driver.
