Alright, so I've finally gotten around to learning 5-speed by heart over the last year in a 140hp FWD grocery getter. I've loved rally racing all my life and I want to get into local rallycross. (Oregon, Washington) Aside from the obligatory Neon/Civic/Golf, what would you recommend? The entry level is for vehicles below 2.5L displacement and FWD.

I should have mentioned that my budget is about 1500 for the car and another thousand for basic work. Keep in mind that in RallyX there's rarely a chance to go faster than 60mph so don't get stupid.

That b18 civic wagon is fucking cool.
Totally a fun fucking shitbox.
Maybe try for that second CRX if you really want one of those...
Do you folks really get to run the same tags on a vehicle after it is purchased?! That's crazy.

Yup, only the title needs to change hands.

You ideally want to get something that has good aftermarket support and as few failure points as possible. Avoid cars with double wishbone suspension and independent rear suspension. Golfs are so popular because they've got tons and tons of rally-related aftermarket support, including skid-plates. They also have a torsion beam rear suspension, which is easier to get oversteer with and is more robust than having independent arms.
If you've got confidence that your car won't break, then you can and typically will punch above you and your car's competitive level while many others take a cautious approach. This is why you'll see skid-plated and lifted old 100hp shitboxes beating brand new stock STI's.

Thanks for the advice.

Can you buy, carry, and use firearms there as well? If so, I am in.

Well, this is the United States after all. Oregon is a pretty good state for gun laws too.
the answer is obvious
>2.3L
>FWD
>tarbo 200 whp
>delta link semi-live rear axle
>less than $1k for a beater
>rally damage will not affect it
