What's /o/ hoping to have done on their car in 2017? I'm hoping to have the extra money to get a new driveshaft for my mustang. If I actually decide to do it, I may go for new camshafts as well. I'm not sure if I want to do that on my DD though just because I'm going like 60 miles total in my daily commute.

Jeez. Share some of that truckload of cash with us common folk. I made financial mistakes as I was younger and keep myself on a tight budget in order to pay debt back as well as put something into a savings.
>>
>>16086728
>money
Nope.
Gonna steal a sc off a regal at the jy, fab the intake. I can do the tuning myself since I already have the equipment for it.
Suspension parts will be bought on credit.
Custom exhaust by the guys down the street for the cost of the pipes because they owe me a big favor.

I'll probably be sinking $2-3k into this project. Most of that being paying off credit card bills for suspension parts.
>>
>>16086745

> buying things on credit, ever
>>
>>16086745
What's your vehicle?

And all together that would be a steal of a project at that budget. For the above mentioned reasons I want to avoid putting any mods on credit. My credit is great and all but that's how I got in the situation I'm in.

Get a vx cam in the lolvo, maybe get an intercooler. Fiddle with the turbo a bit. Get a 531 head on it. Might just settle for renovating some other things instead, depending on how the winter pans out. The rubber trim in the doors and boot might need replacing if we get a hard one.

A 4th gen Maxima. I'm planning on a goal of 250-280hp (starting from 190). Suspension tuning is just so I don't kill myself. If I can swing it (I probably can't) I'm going to try to get the 5th gen 6spd tranny in there, and the heads off a 7th gen (transforming my 3 litre to a 3.5 liter).
This is a HORRIBLE project car choice. But its the only car I've pushed 110% to it's limit and I can see the potential it could have.

Suspension prices
All 4 coilovers- $800-$1000
Antisway bar- $200
Links- $60
Strut bar- $100
New tierods/balljoints- $400
Suspension bushings- $250
Cam bolts- $160
Bearings- $80

Price varies (these are ballparks based off my searching), but still.

Not too sure right now, my car plans change quite often but I wouldn't mind throwing a lot of money on a twin screw setup, but the downside is I'll probably be only at 350hp with the low 6-8lb pulley..

Sorry, what is centris?

What kind of ferd do you have?

I'm kind of stuck looking for numerous projects to throw my time on, but the simple and cost effective thing to do these days is to just throw a supercharger under the hood, a proper tune, and whatever supporting mods you might need..

Double cabs are so fucking sexy. It's a shame danish tax rules made it way too expensive to get them, so they're rare here. Love your hilux, norbro.

For that kind a bread you could do a 460 swap and see 500 hp NA.
>>
>>16086892
>460bb

That would bring the total cost to 1k. The big block engines require many fabrications to the car. Not to mention the amount of front end suspension changes you would have to go through it just isn't worth it.
>>
>>16086891
>It's a shame danish tax rules made it way too expensive to get them

How shitty are the laws in Denmark? Anything upwards from 2 liters is not affordable? What about car mods?
>>
>>16086891
How come its expensive?

If its anything like ours I understand; registering it as a passenger vehicle with the back seats installed makes it super expensive, which is the reason why most of these were only registered with the back seats (going from 2 to 5 seats) when they were 10 years old, as it was then free to do it

Both the ones in the previous photo belongs to a mate of mine. We drove a total of 11 hours last Wednesday to get the double-cab, as it looked to be a really good bargain; completely rust free

Here is the underside
>>
Go to the race track more, finish my 3.2L stroker motor build and re-paint the engine bay.

Any vehicle over 2 tonnes registered after June '96 has a yearly extra tax of 5000 danedollars. Anything under 2 tonne is 900 a year. Vehicles in denmark fall under two categories; yellow plates (recently they made a new kind of plate for that, but as far as I remember, it just looks different. The rules are the same,) and white plates. Yellow plates mean you carry cargo and have no more than three seats. White means you can seat five people. Until the late nineties, vehicle taxes were determined by weight. I pay around 2300 every six months for my 940 estate. Had it been a '97, I'd pay by fuel consumption and C02 pollution, bringing me up to around 4300 every six months. In comparison, I pay 1650 for a '99 astra shitbox my girlfriend gets to drive. Rather, she pays it, but you get my meaning.
If you want to tune a car more than 20% of its stock engine power measured in hp, you have to get a writ of permit from the manufacturer, stating that it will not impede the safety and structural integrity of your vehicle. A supercharger with wastegate or a turbocharger is automatically deemed a 20% in hp. If it uses more fuel or pollutes more, any car registered after '97 have to get a dispensation or get an increase in tax.
Because of the tax rules, most people got the single cab japtrucks instead of double cab. Most older landcruisers and patrols are also on yellow plates, meaning no back seats. Cars like the 4runner are exceedingly rare in denmark. There's no leeway, even if the car is over 10 years old.

>>16086793
>and the heads off a 7th gen (transforming my 3 litre to a 3.5 liter).

>>
>>16087197
Bit like ours then

My HiLux is a green plate, meaning that its 3 seats or less, same as your yellow plates. To have a green plate it needs to have 3 seats or less, aswell as needing to be able to fit a box of a certain size inside of it or on a bed.

But still, you guys cannot put rear seats into a car again after a certain amount of years for free? Fuck, thats rough
>>
>>16087449
Nissan's VQ series of v6's all use the same block. Heads, tranny bellhousings, and oil pans are interchangeable
>>
>>16087481
Naw, man. The state's gotta have its blood money. I can put seats into a pickup just fine, but then I have to pay to re-register it and pay a new kind of tax. Of course, not having to pay the 5000 extra a year for a car with less seats might be worth it. We call that the "envy tax", because lots of upper-class and nuveau riche used the yellow plates as a loop hole to get a cheap porsche or corvette. In typical danish style, a politician got buttmad about something people in copenhagen did and forgot there's a country outside the capitol, where people might need 4x4 cars to get around or haul shit.

Changing the head and picking up an extra 500cc is what I wanted clarification on.
>>
>>16087543
They solved the "envy tax" thing for a short while here with the box I mentioned earlier, but didn't realise that this would mean that large SUV's like the Nissan Patrol, Toyota LandCruiser, MB G-Class and so on could be registered with two seats and a HUGE reduction in price

Its a shame, it really is. An average family cannot afford buying a new LandCruiser Prado with the 3.0l diesel and 5-7 seats, they're just too expensive. Its not even particularly luxurious or anything, its just taxed to hell because of its weight and having a "large" engine

I hope to acquire a 1989 2.5t 5-speed Lebaron convertible, install the intercooler from a Daytona to make it a true Turbo 3, wire in the EVA module which along with the digital dash should make it feel totally 80s fabulous

For starters I'll have to have a new car by the end of this year because I've promised my sister to hand down my current car to her when she finishes her education (and honestly I'm bored to death by his econobox).

Best case I'll find a decent Audi Coupe Quattro with the 5 cyl in the next few weeks (though these are a scrape on my budget), worst case I might settle for a generic W124 wagon or something. Everything else depends on what car I'll actually have by the time 2017 rolls out.

W124 is definetely decent and probably easier to come by than a quattro in good nick at an affordable price. Gotta love that 5 cylinder sound, though. Good options both.
>>
>>16089381
Maybe I'll leave the Quattro out, should open up a few more options. What caught me about the Coupe is its bulletproof engine and that it's got a galvanized chassis and body, and it's not quite as huge as a W124 while offering similar cargo capacity for my purposes (bicycle and a bunch of bags every now and then). And I've just noticed that a Volvo 850R would also fit into my budget, but I'm unsure about high mileage on those.

I need to get the suspension more set up. Sway bars and end links will absolutely get done, strut tower braces also. It's on lowering springs right now, if the sway bars don't improve it enough then I'll pick up some coilovers. I'll also be doing an STI steering rack and a 4/2 piston brake swap. If I have extra money, I'll get a splitter and diffuser made.

I'd love to finally commit to a 2.8 liter kenne bell for my S197, but realistically for 2017, probably a lightweight flywheel, some really gnarly aggressive cams, and a full exhaust from Kooks; headers, catted x-pipe, cat-back, the works.
