Here's my 88' 740 turbo, got ipd sways installed, keeping it at stock ride height so I can keep driving it in the Canadian winters. Next thing is on my list is the exhaust and figuring out what to do with the rear end.

The Air Mass Meter is between the filter box and the accordion tube to the throttle body. (Seems like this is what you're describing as the temp sensor).

Does it run like a turd at idle? Try unplugging the AMM, if it runs better, the meter is bad.
