Will it survive crash testing?

it looks like modern car fronts are "vertically scrolling".

what used to be on the bottom goes up and up while things on the top go smaller and the next iteration begins where the old one left off.

Apparently this is the design language they're going with for every car.

A Camaro like grill, yeah with drl "eyebrows" like the Juke and Cherokee, which is probably thew worst design element ever.
>>
>>16029886
Almost surely. It's on the Volvo CMA platform.

Why is /o/ so much better at car design than any auto manufacturer?
>>
>>16030761

Dude...
>>
>>16029879
Doesn't look to bad desu. Although it look a lot like Porsche, you can see that it has some intended design from the beginning and is not just a clusterfuck of elements they liked in other cars and copied. If the safety is good and price is right I think even western customers could swallow this.

>>16030761 is superior though.

>Still can't even pass FMVSS.

>>16030831

Because doing it for the money is worse than doing it for the soul.
>>
>>16030831
because Auto manufacturers have to

1) abide by ridiculous regulations on safety and shit, (which is why everything has a mile high beltline and DRL's,)

and

2) have to come up with something new every model year, which is "new and exciting", but which doesnt break the mold too much so as to stick out like a sore thumb among other cars. Which eventually leads to some ridiculous design practices, like angry headlights, or every plain sedan since the mid 00's trying to imitate coupe hatchback styling without actually being hatchbacks.

But generally, it's the oppressive regulations. Much like in the late 70's everything had to have the 5mph bumpers, and in the early 80's the Reagan Adminsitration loosened those regulations.

Or how since the late 70's, cars had to have a pair of square headlights at a specific hight and position on the vehicle, leading to a resurgence in pop up lights, until the late 80's, when those regulations were loosened to allow for shaped headlights, which started simple, with rectangular molded headlights, and eventually got bolder, resulting in some of the weird shit you see today.

The beltlines and DRL's are the same thing, and at some point down the line there will be some regulatory overhaul, if not outright deregulation

then maybe Car design can do a bit better.

honestly this car dont look half bad, it's just the DRL's which stick out. Was it so hard to integrate them better? Do people seriously respond that positively to the Cherokee and Juke?

Yeah, because safety regulations "and shit" force you to put retarded eyelid DRLs bulging up on the corners of the hood. Idiot.
>>
>>16030828

Something of that quality would probably cost 8 billion dollars a piece to produce nowadays.
>>
>>16029879

It's hideous, therefore burgers are lining up to buy it.

>Yeah, because safety regulations "and shit" force you to put retarded eyelid DRLs bulging up on the corners of the hood. Idiot.
no, but they are the reason DRL's are a thing to begin with. If DRL's weren't a thing, it would look more like

>>16030761

if not for DRL's, we wouldnt have the current Juke and Cherokee
