why aren't more sports cars made of fiberglass? it's cheap and lightweight. having that with an aluminum monocoque seems to make the most sense but most cars are made of aluminum with a steel chassis still.

look! carbon is even cheaper
learn about labour required to build fiberglass bodyshell before being a fag next time
It shatters instead of bending and that's a real pain.

Now lookup fiberglass, you can't recycle it only downcycle it.

This. Painting fiberglass is also different (don't even start on gel coat). It cracks instead of dents so repair can be a bitch. I'm sure the whole being flamable part doesn't help either.

>seems to make the most sense
everything seems to make sense if you don't put any effort into actually thinking about it
Fiberglass is fucking awful for anything.
>>16019198
Because its a bitch to repair and paint. Prepping fiberglass has actually made me hate the c2 corvette.

A privilege normally reserved for driving the C2.

>driving around in a car with a mono-cock
I would go with Basalt
Doors for Sky 34 coupe.
Vacuum infusion. 1 layer carbon fiber + 6 layers basalt fiber.
Hardened - 70°c, 3 hours.
original door(empty)- 18kg, carbon door- 5,5kg

This is actually a pretty good question. Semi trucks use fiberglass hoods and fenders without issue. Fiberglass repair is pretty easy too. It requires just sanding and application of resin and strips of fiberglass.
