I've been having a surging/rough idle problem on my '01 corolla. It will only start having issues after driving 5 miles or so when the engine is all warmed up. Surges when accelerating and the idle will bounce around from 500-1100 rpm. Sometimes it gets real rough and I have to restart the car for it to calm down.

I've replaced:
>Cat
>Spark plugs
>fuel pump
>Fuel filter

And I've cleaned:
>MAF
>Throttle body/idle control valve
>Air filter

Next would be injectors. Is there anything else I should look at? It's a 1zz-fe btw.

I wouldn't mess with the MAF if I were you, shits delicate and expensive. Try a new O2 sensor. My Volvo has a fidgety one, on cold days when I'm starting up it cant decide whether more or less oxygen is needed, the tach bounces and engine sounds haggard for a bit. Throttle body and idle control were good places to start.

It's not spitting codes, and I just had one replaced

Replace the IAC if cleaning didn't work.

This may sound dumb, but have you checked your connections on your distributor cap and the wires to your plugs in general?

Had almost that exact problem and that's what it turned out to be. Didn't think about replacing em cause it didn't really make sense but sure as shit that's what fixed it

Shit it probably is the distributor or the wires. I'll have to look at it after work.

Thanks

My AW11 does this when the coolant is low.
Another issue could be clogged injectors.
O2 sensor is also very possible.

Soulds like failing ignition when warmed up. Check the ignition system coil/electronics
>>
Sound dumbbut check the integrity of the vacuum hoses and their connections. Sounds even dumber but check how clean the fuel injector connector plugs are, and all ignition system related electrical connections.

>check how clean

I meant to type out check how clean and secure the fuel injector connectors are, i had a stumbly idle on my gs400 and i realized i accidentally unplugged a fuel injector and an ignition coil
>>
Update:

I tested the spark plugs and it seems they are not getting enough voltage (orange spark). So I'm replacing the ignition coils. Hope this fixes it
