You're driving a car that weighs 3300LBS/1500KG, how much BHP does it need to be 'fast' in your opinion?
>>
500hp
>>
>>16014815
about 500
>>
Mine weights 1750kg and has 218HP (according to manufacturer). Its quite ok, so I guess 350 would be enough.
>>
At 300 I'd say it's pretty quick, but to call it a proper "fast car" I think around 500

Quick by modern standards, not fast. Also, heavier than 1500kg (16something iirc).
>>
that's like asking how big the tits should be on a landwahle to consider her hot, it doesn't work that way.
>>
how much hp would 900-1000 kg need to be fast?
>>
>>16015058
Somewhere between 200 and 250.

>>16015054
>that's like asking how big the tits should be on a chubby chick to consider her hot
ftfy. Works perfectly fine: you wouldn't pick a chubby chick with a flat chest, you'd at least expect some big tits to work with.

What about a 330b bike?

>>
>>16015096
Depends on gearing, suspension and general layout, but 100 would be enough to scare most passengers.

The slowest car I've driven that I would still consider "fast" would be an STI, which is currently 305hp and 3.400 lbs. That comes out to 180 hp per ton.
>>
>>16014815
>'fast'
Depends what you consider fast?
If all you've driven is regular, daily drivers and shitters all your life then your definition may vary.
>>
>>16014815
300 for fast
200 makes it usable
>>
>>16014815
"Fast" is a term that describes velocity, AKA top speed. Since you're looking for a power to weight ratio, I'm guessing you're referencing acceleration, so the word you're looking for here is "quick".

>>
>>16015459
Needs at least 300, anon.
>>
my car is 2050kg and makes 125bhp

it's not fast at all
>>
Car 1 is 3300lbs with 260whp. Feels peppy.
Car 2 is 2800lbs with 300whp. Feels "fast"
In both cases, I can't use the power of either car to its full potential on public roads. So i kind of agree with those in here saying that 200hp in a 3300lb car is plenty. Think mid range bmw 3 series. More than enough to get in trouble with on city streets.
>>
My STI was around that, 1550kg and tuned to 380 bhp. It wasnt FAST at high speeds but the awd acceleration made it seem like it was.
Still lost to remapped VAG hatches in a straight line pulling from 2nd gear. I will say near 400hp FWD feels FAST because of all the torque steer and lane hopping
>>
300-400
>>
Honestly, I wouldnt touch that with my pepe.

>>
>>16015636
>It wasnt FAST at high speeds
>>
>>16014815
a base C5 is around 3300. HP and torque are about 350. If aerodynamics are similar, the top speed of said vehicle should be about 170-175 ish. It's enough to have fun in, but I'd mod before tracking.
>>
>>16015605
Shouldn't you compare same power:weight? Otherwise why don't you use the same weight car?

Like I'd say 300hp in a 2800lb car feels pretty fast. That's 9.3lb:hp.
But 375 in a 3500lb car, the same exact power:weight, generally feels slower outside of a straight line.
Yes, assuming the 3500lb car has larger wheels and a beefier suspension, then it SHOULD grip the same and handle equivalently, but it doesn't due to greater unsprung weight and other factors.

And given that the lighter call will generally be smaller, it'll be more aerodynamic in addition to the better handling.

That's why I'd say 400+ for a 3300lb car. But I think 300 whp is good in a 2800lb car.

Considering that my Challenger is at 375HP at 4400 curb weight and can go 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, I figure 200HP at 3300 would be pretty good.

At that power to weight ratio, you're faster than 90% of cars and can do some pretty fun hooning.

Now, if you're talking about "real" speed, you'd want about 500hp so you could get into the 11s, but that's unnecessary for what 99% of people on this board do. Hell, even doing highway pulls, 200HP at 3300 pounds is enough to take off on a lot of people.

I drove a 2017 STi that felt like it was too fast, but I think that's because the gearing was so short and it would hit the redline before you could take your foot off the gas.

Speaking of, it's fucking annoying that cars are allowed to be measured at the crank for horsepower when some have horrid drivetrain losses.

10lb per hp is about where I'd put a car that's starting to feel fast, yes, if it's by the wheel. By crank, it could really be 13:1.

Thank god that chasing MPG has gotten manufacturers to greatly reduce drivetrain losses, at least. But it's often at the cost of tunability.

Something with 220 ft-lbs on tap give or take can put a smile on your face.

My reference point is the IS300, ~3200 lbs, 220 ft-lbs, about the same hp, 3.0L NA 2JZ, and it can hoon around just fine if you know how to drive. There's a local guy with an MT swapped Sportcross he autox's occasionally, my want is strong.

Depends on what you like, go drive a pickup truck with a V8, the thing gets a surge at low rpm that wheezes out up top, vs. a high revving sports car like an S2000 where it's gutless below 5k rpm.

If you're autocrossing you probably want to prioritize torque across the whole range, you'll be down to 25 mph and it's more fun to be able to spin the wheels in second down there in a torquey car than have to try and downshift into 1st gear to get back in the power band on a peakier car.

If you're on the track you usually have more leeway to keep it in the powerband so a peakier car is easier to manage there than in other scenarios.

In daily odds are you want the low end torque there too because you'll be too lazy to downshift.

But personal preference is king, wringing every last drop of performance out of a peaky narrow power band car can be extremely rewarding. That's why for every Mustang/Camaro/Corvette I see autocrossing there are 4 S2000's at the same event. For all the shit Matt Farah gets he's got a great video comparing an LS swap to single turbo FD, whether or not you agree with him he presents it pretty well, there's a great quote in there:

>Most people like me say 'well you HAVE to wind it out' and rx-7 people will say 'no it means you GET to wind it out'... and they're two different schools of thought.

My 08 350z is 3300lbs. At 306hp id classify it as fast.

I've spent alot of time behind the wheel of a C6 z06 at 3200lbs with 505hp. I'd classify it as Fucking Fast.

Anything beyond that is not necessary for the street unless you frequent 1320video.

Omg that woman is so good looking I didn't think about BHP for a second. In my opinion 250hp is more than reasonable in most applications, especially for a street car. I had a car with 200hp about 3400lbs, and in my opinion it was plenty capable for an average person's use, and it was nice (quiet, and reasonably powerful) on the highway.

That is a perfectly acceptable wheel gap for a mass produced vehicle that must be designed for many different daily scenarios. If you stance faggots wanna slam it while sucking your vape cocks and driving up and down main street while taking driveways at 1mph so be it but leave us normal non queer humans out of it. Also fuck off.

240. i used to drive a volvo v70 t5, weighed 1600kg or so, and it was fast enough. it could've been faster, but by no means was it slow. especially compared to a standard v70, which only has like 170hp or so iirc.
>>
I have 230hp at that weight and my car feels pretty fast, in part also because it has a shit chassis. So I guess 300 would be proper fast for me.

>drive both

i can guarantee you have never driven an LS1 Fbody probably the V6 iron block shitheap and you obviously know nothing about them. my car is bone stock with AR wheels and bfgs

they do not have leaf springs. they do not have leaf springs. NO F-body had leaf springs since 1982.

however the MOOSESTANG has macpherson struts which is inferior to my f-bodies unequal length double wishbone suspension. (SLA)

>Double wishbones are usually considered to have superior dynamic characteristics as well as load-handling capabilities, and are therefore commonly found on sports cars and racing cars throughout automotive history. Examples of makes in which double wishbones can be found include Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, MG and Pontiac vehicles.

what was that last one?

>(MacPherson Strut)Although it is a popular choice, due to its simplicity and low manufacturing cost, the design has a few disadvantages in the quality of ride and the handling of the car. Geometric analysis shows it cannot allow vertical movement of the wheel without some degree of either camber angle change, sideways movement, or both. It is not generally considered to give as good handling as a double wishbone or multi-link suspension, because it allows the engineers less freedom to choose camber change and roll center.

>>
>>16038902
Honestly, if you can find a cute one just fucking go for it. The problem with liking fatties is that its extremely rare to find ones that are actually cute, and more often than not, the ones that are are always taken or have incredibly high standards because they know they're a catch.

If you're worried about catching shit from people don't worry about it, as long as she as an aknowledgably cute face then the only real thing they can tease you for is having a fat gf. Having a fat AND ugly gf is a no no, so just make sure she's presentable in public.
