Hey /o/, need some advice
Thinking about picking up this 2003 LX470 with 143k miles on it
It has some rust so I'm hesitant. What do you think? Too much rust?

that's not bad mileage for a landcruiser mechanically

rust is always bad but it depends where it is, if it's structural, how badly it's eaten the metal, etc
>>
How much does it cost?
>>
>>
>>
>>16010426
NO NO NO if your gut says no LISTEN TO IT AND DONT DO IT
just get a honda.
>>
>>16010443
$10k
>>
>>16010474
Oh my god, avoid.
>>
Where is there rust in the body panel or frame?

I only see a rusty tailpipe and a rusty diff cover. I mean, if the diff is even rusty, it could just be covered in grease and grime.
>>
>>16010426
That's surface rust m8...every car on the road regardless will look like that after about 5 years....its not cancer rust. Unless i missed some with actual pitting somewhere i would consider that rust free
>>
>>16010494
I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't fully inspect it, just snapped a few pics. Didn't see rust on the body panels
>>
>>
>>16010431
that's just the trailer hitch, they bolt in, nbd

and that's if it's anything more than surface rust
>>
>>16010549
This.
>>16010426
If you consider that "rust", you should have someone else inspect vehicles for you.
>>
>>16010426
Stop being a poorfag. Pay the extra 3k for a clean one
>>
>>16011746
>clean one
You're an idiot
>>
>>16011713
>you should have someone else inspect vehicles for you
that's why I'm asking the pros of /o/ ;)
>>
so glad i dont live in the rust belt

why even get one of these though? just get a seqoia or skip the pussy shit and get a tundra.
>>
>>16012238
>tundra
>sequoia
Isn't the LX just a landcruiser with Lexus badges?
I'd take and land cruiser any day of the week

im too poor to afford parts for a LC/LX, so ill stick with the mass produced trucks
>>
>>16010426
That would look great as a truck
>>
>>16010426
for a second, i thought Lexus took over Mazda's B-series being truccs.

OP, do some reinforcement jobs with the frame and make this into a fucking sweet offroader
>>
>>16013193
That explains it.
LC/LX>Tundra
>>
>>16013317
The frame doesn't need any reinforcement jobs. They're a sweet off-roader as is.

For you
>>
>>16013556
Oh I was also responding to the guy above himm too. if it was a truck and you cut out the back, you cwould need to do some frame jobs to keep it study
>>
>>16014006
No you wouldn't. The frames in these Landcruisers is perfectly adequate for a pickup chop, as has been proven time and time again in Australia.
>>
looks fine op. find out when the timing belt was last serviced and you're good to go.
>>
>>16013193
are land cruiser parts really that expensive? didn't think they would be desu.
>>
>>16014141
OH SHIT REALLY?
NAICE. A Lexus pickup truck.
>>
Looks like surface rust. Dont worry about it l, just get it krown sprayed for peace of mind.
>10k @ 143k miles
Usd? Seems pricey.. How immaculate in shape is it?
>>
>>16015738
Immaculate as hell on the inside. The rust is what worried me. and 10k for a 2003 LX @143k seems to be below the going rate in my area (New England)
>>16014859
Timing belt was done at 130k
>>
for 10k you can find a better deal, most of these are well taken care of, but you're better off getting a different car. I just recently purchased a 2008 VW Jetta 2.5L 5speed for $2700 with 92xxx original miles, pristine except for a small pinhole dent in the door, I'm also a mechanic and had looked the car over before settling. Don't spend too much just because of the plastic badge on the vehicle.
>>
It's not enough rust to be concerned about but $10k is completely coo-coo bananas.
>>
>>16012201

>Pros
Obvious bait
>>
>>16016042
>you're better off looking at a different car
>I just bought this completely irrelevant incompatible example for a much cheaper price
Thanks for namefagging, it gives me and others the oppurtunity to filter your future posts.
>>16015990
That "rust" is a non issue, and is indicitive of a car that's simply been used as a car.
IF that's below the going rate in your area, I'd jump at it. Ignore the posts claiming it's too expensive unless they can link a better value example in your area.
>>
make an account and post those pics over on ih8mud.com and get the LC nerds to take a look.
Pic related. Land Cruiser life is best life.

Good for a weekend or adventure vehicle but fuck paying the gas to DD one
>>
>>16010426
wouldn't be worried about the minor surface surface rust as much as the timing belt snapping on an interference engine. 90k service interval iirc. Change the water pump while you're at it.
>>
>>16017275
He's right you know, what the fuck does a Jetta have to do with a Land Cruiser?
>>
>>16014865
They can be. Especially on older cruiser. Landcruiser seem to be very specific, meaning they don't share many parts with other toyota vehicles. Makes them harder to come by as well.
