Is it normal for these things to cost 1 to 2 thousand above their KBB value!?
I feel like I'm shopping for an s2000.
yup
theyve reached the point to where they arent worth the money any more
>>16009743
I'm not sure I'd go that far. But I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.
I thought it was a few bad apples, but the prices are consistent over a wide range.
I found one that only has 100,000 miles and is in mint condition, but they want $4500 for it! FUCK!
They only cost what people are willing to pay for them. There is no other metric by which their value can be measured. KBB doesn't get to decide how much a car is worth.
>>16009757
the prices are overlapping NB Miatas in my area now
theres just no reason to get a NA
they were good for <$2500
>>16009735
>using KBB to measure a specialty car's value
>Or any car's value for that matter
I stopped using KBB in general to value anything because it's just easier to read the market for a week.
Meme tax. It's what you pay for jumping on the bandwagon instead of being on from the beginning.
>>16009797
But I'm just to the point where I can buy something. I liked them before they were meme'd, but I was too poor to do anything about it.
>>16009822
The fucking buy one and laugh at the poor suckers who have to pay $5k for 200k+ mile examples in a year, because that's the direction we're headed.
I shoulda kept mine for another year. I sold it with the hardtop for $4300, not even in that great of shape, 180k miles.
Bought for $3000 with a hardtop just a year earlier.
Are you an idiot? Na miatas are like 1.5k here
Might as well get an NB since they cost the same and are superior in every application.
Unless you really want pop-ups...
Then again you can get an NC in mint condition with probably lower miles for 6K and have the comfiest Miata...
>>16009882
Where?
>>16009908
here
>>16009892
...I really want pop-up headlights.
>>16009768
>theres just no reason to get a NA
except that NB is butt fucking ugly
>>16010211
explain how
>>16009735
S2Ks are waaaay overpriced for their age/milage/condition
Miatas are more reasonable but still depreciate slowly
an early NC is still significantly cheaper than an S2K from older years
>>16010233
No popsups breh
>>16009743
>not worth the money
The market determines their value. They are worth exactly the money that people will pay.
>>16010736
memetax isn't value lad
>>16009735
Google "pink tax"
>>16009735
>2016
>people still using kbb to buy Cars
It's time to grow up kids
>>16009735
For all the shit that people give miatas they really are great cars.
I should know i ended up buying a New ND instead of Camaro/Mustang. Still havent regretted it their so much damn fun
>>16011960
"memetax" is caused by increase in demand, kid
>>16014079
not all demand is valid son
>>16014856
That is subjective. Demand is demand.
Got mine 4 years ago for $300 + some beer, some cheap paint, and a new used top, and drove it for a year (top down weather 8 months out of the year) sold for $3500
>>16014925
>>16009735
Book value get less relevant as cars get older. This is especially the case for cars that have developed a cult following.
Nb owner here.
$3500-$5500 seems to be the range for na/nb with around 100k with clean bodies in Michigan.
Once the rust sets in, or they've been hit/dented the price drops to like $1500-$2500.
Try to find one with a hardtop, it's usually cheaper than buying one separately. Easier to haggle with a higher number.
>>16009984
>want the superior engine and FD stylings
>also want pop-ups
Why do you have to make me compromise, Mazda?
>>16009735
Just buy an MR2, you pussy.
>>16014976
I don't want to die. I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing.
>>16009743
When are they ever worth the money?
You can't put a price on dignity desu senpai
>>16014970
NB is objectively better + better styling
WHY DOES RUNNING IN THE 90s HAVE TO BE SO EXPENSIVE!!!!????
