My rear shock bracket has corroded away, leaving the shock loose. The main bolt is still in tact, but the entire thing can wobble, causing a rattling sound. I plan on driving 5 hours tonight. Is it safe for now?
image is upside down, sorry
Short answer: no
Long answer: Fuck no, Dumbass
It hasn't been safe for a long time.

Why? It shouldn't really move out of place. Its still pretty set in place, just a little wobbly.

It's going to push straight up through the body any day now leaving the rear end of your car dragging along the road. Driving 5 hours, presumably at highway speeds will almost certainly result in "soon" being tonight and if it happens when you're going 65+mph... Well let's just say you should livestream your whole trip.
I really have no choice. I will be driving like this. Worse case scenario? Also flipped picture

Shocks are not weight supporting.

you think i'll be fine?

Sucks to suck.

Worst case scenario is that corner of your car will fall down onto your wheel. At speed, the tire will instantly shred and wedge itself up into your wheel well. The rotor/your undercarriage will drag causing fantastic sparking and enough heat and combustion to ignite what's left of your tire creating a nice hot fire right up against your fuel tank giving you MAYBE enough time to get the flaming heap stopped, jump out and get the fuck away from it before it explodes assuming your gas tank is much less rusty than your shock tower.

so your saying theres a chance at survival!

It might or might not be. Just know that if it does punch through that you'll lose your dampening in that corner and it will bounce like a mother fucker. Whether or not it becomes dangerous depends on how bad the roads are and the condition of the rest of your suspension.

Actually OP, something rather important. Are your shocks and springs separate or are they coil overs? If they're coil overs then yeah that corner will drop like a rock and do what the other anons are saying. They didn't look like coilovers but you didn't show the whole thing.

Ty for the help. I decided to use my better judgement and postpone my lengthy drive. Here's a photo of the other side to get perspective.

Springs

Do I need to replace the whole thing or can I just replace that bracket?

So you have four separate pieces in the back, two springs and two shocks that have no contact with each other?
Just the bracket.
IMHO I wouldn't worry about it OP.
If it was something more than a shock absorber then maybe I'd postpone my trip.
Mazda 3?
