Why not just use something native to the ranger? It came with a perkins and mitsubishi diesels, in both 2wd and 4wd flavors.

Isuzu made a good diesel. But you'd have to swap everything over, and adapting it to 4wd is a bitch. I've only seen one chevy luv with a swapped in isuzu diesel that mated up to the gasoline 4wd drivetrain.

I think Nissan/Datsun made a 4x4 diesel truck too.

Really? I heard 6.2s are a shit. Cuz they're great on mileage but they really don't last. I want one myself. Chevy was a ripoff just rebuilding motors to diesel spec but still I want one cuz of the originality. Can't find one around Indiana tho:(

Work on Cummins engines everyday. 40k engine and 10k exhaust systems. Otr trucks got ducked after 07. Still don't get the whole pavement princess look. Big fancy truck with intake and exhaust, suped up turbo and head work all so you can dump black smoke? Buy an old shitty truck and floor it... don't drop 6g's into a truck you use to look cute.

Most people on /o/ just hate truck culture in general, and with dieselbros being the epitome of shit in truck culture, diesel tends to get a bit of a bad reputation around here.

I personally have an LBZ Duramax diesel, and I love it. Never given me any problems so far, gets OK fuel economy, torque and power out the ass, and it sounds like a fucking jet plane with the cat and muffler delete.

That said, it's also a pretty damn shitty DD and I'm thinking about buying a small Honda or Toyota to daily drive, especially for cold days.
