Check out all these Americunts who carry a toolbox with their "truck" so they can justify it even if they never use them.

Me? I carry a pen and a screwdriver maybe. Oh and also my socket set because nothing else will fit on my lug nuts. And Oh My does it fit snugly. If I had bought a cheaper socket set I'd have to take my car to a tyre place to rotate the damn tyres.

My car is an unreliable 80's tarbo, and the only tools I've ever carried with me is a screw driver, and a pair of channel locks.

My alternator went bad while at work 30 miles from home, I managed to remove it with only those tools, and then fixed the stuck brushes.

I still dont, and wont carry a full set of tools. I keep my shitbox clean.

Tires are stupid easy to change though, and you don't have to carry anything special to do it. Did one on the interstate at 2 A.M. in 15 minutes, using the factory jack and lug wrench.

It should be noted though, that spares do go flat eventually. You should really check the spare for pressure every time you rotate the tires or do an oil change.

With anything remotely modern, you're not going to be doing much besides changing the tire on the side of the road anyway. Most other faults would be parts failures or electronic failures, neither of which would likely be fixable quickly with a basic set of tools. If something legit breaks, it's pretty much always tow truck time.

Myself, I tend to just carry rain gear, an ice scraper, tire plug kit, air compressor and jumper cables in addition to the factory tire/jack.

a lot of people do this in this new era of vehicle ownership, so many people don't/cant even change a tire properly but they drive a vehicle everyday. such a double standard.. there needs to be much more strict control of vehicle ownership!!

Well i used to carry a lot. Full toolbox. Spring compressors. Axle stands. Camping gear. Sledge hammer. Axe. Bolt cutters. Toilet paper. Full first aid kit plus small one as well. Then i realised in 15 years I'd never needed any of it diving in the city.

Felt a bit nervous the first few weeks without it. But eventually got over it and improved fuel economy.

When you're ready, piece together your own safety kit. Buying pre-made kits will get you utter shit in quality along with a bunch of useless shit. Think of the situations you'd be in. For me, I can suture to stop bleeding, so mine has various medical grade tweezers and pliers to sew someone back together + hemostats and stuff to deal with a collapsed lung, for example. This reminds me to order a few scalpels.
