Do you have a favorite luxury car?

I don't care about your financial status but say it if you have a favorite.

Yup. The toyota corolla.

Also would you buy a 2008 Maybach 57 that is 80k or a new SClass that is over 100k?

Yep, strap in some leather, soften the springs and sound insulate.

Not really, but if I had to choose I'd probably pick one of these barges. They're the flagship model of the flagship brand of the golden era of American automotive lusciousness, so they can't possibly be bad, right?
>>
>>15951779
No, I don't care about luxury, I care about performance. Most people would think that a 911 GT3 (for example) is a luxury car because it's very expensive, but to me the distinction is clear. I like sports cars that are very fast and very uncomfortable, I don't give a fuck about leather seats that massage your back and other bullshit that you can find in a Rolls.

I love how the recent Maybach try to be private jets and bloat themselves with accessories and guizmos.
It's sort of a throwback to the time when luxury cars tried to be gentleman's club on wheel and started to come with air-conditionned drinks cabinet, stuff like that.

The Phantom is one of the worst drivers car. It turns surprisingly well but lacks feel or feedback like anything. It's really plush driving it but anyway it's built for the passengers to enjoy.

But I feel sorry for the chauffeurs driving it. I mean they can get easily bored with the whole driving and the bland interior.

I know that the whole "driver's car" meme is in full effect right now, and on this board in particular, but in my opinion, in a luxury car you should feel and hear the road as little as possible. I just want to float through traffic on a cloud. The last thing I give a shit about is how the 405 "feels" at 6 PM in Irvine.

That's exactly the whole point of a luxury car. But you feel bored in the Phantom just by driving it. The Ghost on the other hand are a bit more engaging, the Wraith being more engaging to drive though they are still luxury cruisers.

My interest is currently on this pretty unusual car, Fisker Karma. I do know that it has it's downsides, but apart from those this car seems to be near perfect luxury car when it comes to driving experience, smoothness of the drive, noise and comfort still maintaining somewhat decent power output.
Also it is a very individualistic car that is rarely seen at all. Seeing one on the road automatically brings up questions about what that vehicle even is.

To my current DD. I'm currently driving an Volvo S80 T6 which is not an new car anymore, but it is still a very comfortable car while having a decent performance.

When it comes to quality of ride this thing has you covered. Ride is very smooth, seats are comfortable but at the same time they provide good support which allows you to drive comfortably for long road trips. Above that it is reliable, engine is solid as it can get and car performs very well for it's age. There is no real mechanical side problems in it's service history even tough i'm few hundred km's from reaching 440k km's on it. I got it inspected yesterday w/o any problems, which was a quite surprise when taking in to account how strict inspection standards are in nordic countries.

Karmas have guaranteed future collectible value and they're cheaper than your mother since everyone ditched theirs for Teslas.
>>
I'm a huge slut for art deco styling, so I'm going to have to go with the Roller Phantom. I'd have to agree with the previous poster about the Maybach, though. Sure, it's more opulent and has ridiculous levels of tech in the passenger compartment, but they really screwed the pooch when they didn't make the exterior as distinctive and decadent as the interior.

Lexus outsold Mercedes (and BMW) in the US for 11 years straight, and that streak was only broken due to an earthquake and tsunami in Japan fucking up production in 2011. Lexus recovered and passed Mercedes in sales in 2014. Not sure if they've regained their lead over BWM yet or not.

Yes, Lexus is competing with Mercedes. And they're winning.

Winning the soccer mom market, yes. But Lexuses are still crusher-destined once their tech goes obsolete for no other reason than because they're so damn ugly.

Anything other than a lexus is a meme. Merc, BMW, Audi are all for dipshits who thing a brand name dictates luxury and reliability.

To me, luxury is having the luxury of a working & reliable car that is also comfortable.

Fucking homosexuals.
>>
>>15964375
>Lexuses are still crusher-destined once their tech goes obsolete

More like Mercedes and BMW's are scrap metal once the warranty is up. IIRC something like 90%+ Lexuses ever made are still on the road. Anecdotally, I see a hell of a lot more old Lexuses rolling around than I do Mercs and Beemers.

Not those years, they have a good Ferrari engine and a dogshit ZF trans (same ones used on Land Rovers and Jags). The dogshit Ferrari transmission ones are called DuoSelect, I think that ended in 2008. The best QP imo is the 2009 Sport GTS, they only made them for that year, they have a unique interior, wheels, and supposedly a bit more power but that may be an Italian half truth.

I just got a mint 06 LS430 with 55k on it. One owner with records, for $15k last month. It has everything but he "ultra lux" air suspension shit.

The Nav system feels like it was designed by Atari or commodore, but the levinson stereo is great and the car just oozes quality and a pamepering ride.

I was actually considering a CPO 2013-14 ES350. That is a tremendous car. If you've never spent a lot of time in Lux cars starting over $65k, you'd think it was the greatest car in he world. But at the end of the day, the LS is in a class of it's own for japanese cars.

Ultimately, the LS was the better choice as it allowed me to keep another $12-$17k in by bank accounts, and drive a car with even finer ride that only announces it's age by the dated Nav info system and a motor that is down about 100hp from modern expectations.

My vote for top lux is a panamera or a classic Benz like w140 or w126. Modern rolls and gently is for dribbleball players, rappers, and Saudi princes visiting the USA for college. But I'd totally buy one if $30 million showed up on my doorstep tomorrow.
>>

Yeah, there was an electrical fire in the engine bay so he replaced a bunch of shit; parents split up when he was nearly finished with it hence why it ended up sitting for so long, hue. Too bad I'm lazy af and didn't bother taking any time to look through the manual and try to get the car back on the road myself. That and yeah nah I ain't getting under all that weight.
