It depends. I don't typically stop for people on the road because you never know who you're stopping for, and they're not always in a safe spot either. I've helped a few people in parking lots before though, mostly by giving them a jump.

I carry an emergency charger for jumping cars in the winter, but otherwise I usually don't have much in the way of tools. Everyone seems to have some sort of roadside assistance now, so you don't need to prepare for much more than flat tires and dead batteries.

I've jumped a few people before, that's about it.

My truck broke down one time and someone was kind enough to sacrifice their front license plate to push me off the road.

Another time my battery died at a busy museum area, someone eventually stopped and jumped me, but I had 3 cops drive by very slowly without a word despite my hood being up and cables in my hand

Another time my bike broke down (battery melted itself) on the top of a giant bridge. Had 2 cops stop, ask if I was gonna jump off, and then just said "oh, that sucks" when I said "no, bike just broke" and drove off.
