Has anyone else completely lost interest in "fast cars" after discovering motorcycles? I can appreciate them for being comfortable but I can't help but cringe when I watch these $100,000+ super car POV vids on YouTube and see them have to shift into second at only 50mph. It's pretty pathetic. I wanted to pick up a GT-R or maybe build a Supra but I feel like I will be underwhelmed by the end. What is even the point?
>>
cost effectiveness motorbikes shit ALL over cars in the fast and fun categories.

yfw a POS 1996 kawasaki zx6r has a 0-60mph of 3.6 seconds.

cars can't compete when money is relevant.
>>
>>15948579
Piloting two tons of steel, plastic and glass is very different from piloting an engine on two wheels with you strapped on top. Generally bikes are faster in a straight line (because of their superior power to weight ratio) but cars have more cornering grip.
>>

Obviously you are on a different euphoric level than the rest of us. Science speed brother!
>>

Motorcycles are shit at cornering. They have to take insanely inefficient lines because of their geometry. A miata can handle better than most bakes. They are also shit at braking

But that isn't what this is about. We are just talking about the thrill of accelerating fast

No, I meant health. Chances are you wont die on a bike, you'll get run into or thrown off and injure your arms, legs, back, etc. Which could cause chronic pain or lack of mobility aka health problems.

>>

:/ depends how often you run it with no oil? unless its a 2-stroke...
>>
The fun part of supercars for me is scaring passengers, not myself. Riding motorcycles on the street isn't very exhilarating for me because I'm mostly just worried about bad drivers and dumb road hazards rather than my limits on the machine. Taking risk into my own hands is fun, putting my life in the hands of all the retards out on public streets isn't. I like riding dirtbikes but even then I like mountain bikes more because I can ride stuff that is too technical to be possible on a moto miles from my house.
>>
>>15948742
yeah I thought this too. OP has a 11yo mind
>>
>>15949228
Motorcycle engines can last just as long as car engines. The difference is that motorcycles are crashed/stolen/parted so often that high mileage motors are difficult to find. Routine valve adjustments and oil changes is all they need. There is some variation between brands and engine types. For example, Kawasaki's low displacement parallel twins are pretty much fucked by 100,000 miles and need to be replaced (new motor would literally cost $100). Suzuki's inline fours will easily go 150,000 - 200,000. Honda's flat six you can just forget about. You'll be dead before that thing shits the bed.

Also, people don't really bother rebuilding engines for most bikes. Parts are so insanely cheap that they end up just buying a used motor from some crashed bike on craigslist. Some bikes even use the same frame in higher displacement versions of the same model so people just use the opportunity to make their bike even faster.
>>
>>15949290
How exactly do I have an 11 year old mind? It's a fairly natural conclusion for anyone that takes the time to compare and contrast the two. One avenue lets you go faster for cheaper while the other doesn't. It's not like people have different reasons for wanting to go fast. I suppose the only real difference is it might feel cooler in a car since you're being pushed back into the seat or some shit
>>
>>15949321
>I suppose the only real difference is it might feel cooler in a car since you're being pushed back into the seat or some shit
Cars don't even have that advantage, on a bike you get a way greater sense of speed and acceleration.
>>
Bike are great but I've seen one too many people end up as road pizza.

>>
>>15949325
That is what I am trying to say. I am not necessarily hating on fast cars, but I caught myself shopping for fast cars and had to ask myself what the fuck is the point. I am paying a comparatively high amount of money for the "thrill of going fast" when it isn't even that fast. It just changed my perspective a bit, that is all.

I used to ride a ZX6R. Now I drive a Prius. The excitement of driving a fast car/bike wears off pretty damn fast. It's crazy. You lust for one for ages and when you finally get it it's amazing but just give it a few months and it's just meh. More exciting to scare the shit out of a passenger though like someone else said.

When I had a 135i and the Prius I actually drove the Prius more often. That's just how used to it I was. Unfortunately the 135i is gone. It was still a nice car to drive on the weekends.

Hey man, it's ok. You just don't belong here.

I've been going fast on shitty cars and bikes for years. Now I have a fast bike and I've been trashing it for one and a half year. Not slowing anytime soon, everytime I think on commuting with "ma comfy car or scooter gt" I just cringe.

No problem if fast is not for you. I've realized that fast cars are not for me either. To each their own.
>>
>>15949261
Holy shit, this for sure.

I'll expand on my thoughts a little bit, too:
Bikes are fast as fuck in a straight line, but are not comfortable and not nearly as practical as cars. Bikes look way less nice than cars do. Cars corner better and are more fun and less "I hope I don't fucking die". Despite being bigger, cars are somehow more engaging to drive as a man-machine. Cars have nicer exhaust notes and cars can have passengers who can sit and not have to hold on (unless you go dagumi). You can listen to music in cars and you have control over the elements.

There's a place for both. Bikes are much easier to go fast on and have a higher excitement factor for sure. Bikes can put you into the elements much further than a car can, even a convertible. Bikes are cheaper to run by a long shot, and are great on gas by nature. Being a biker will probably get you laid even if it's just a Kawasaki, whereas driving a civic will net you negative pusserino.

twisties are why I stuck to the lighter 600. I got tired of the bike once I took it to PIR on track day. The amount of fun of going all out on the bike with no fear and anxiety of cagers, deer and debris on the road was awesome. I just can't afford the time and money to do that stuff anymore. One day I may get back into it. I would rather get a fast car again since the BMW was totaled. Tracking the BMW was just as fun and very comfortable.
