I found a nice older truck but its 2 hours away & doesn't drive currently, so I need to get it back here without dropping a ton of money on transport. How do you guys handle picking up cars from other cities/states, esp if they don't run?
I don't have a flatbed, don't have a truck.
-Tow it on a trailer
-get someone else to tow it on a trailer
-tow dolly
-drive it
-pay for someone to transport it
-rent a truck and dolly/trailer and tow it yourself
-fix it where it is and drive it home
These are your options...
Uhaul.
>a nice older truck
>doesn't work
whats nice about the piece of junk?

>he actually believes thats all thats wrong with it
You's a sucka, OP.
>>15941430
Seeing that the guy offered to install it himself for more $ so I could drive it out, I tend to believe him. Although it could be total crap like anything else until we see.
>>15941424
Lol go out there and repair it then you stupid lemon suckin' ape.

I don't have the time. Its behind so the tranny needs to be dropped. Is there a quick fix so I can limp it home?
>>15941866
Well you could do the old AAA trick if you have a membership.
Tow it a certain amount and then use a friends AAA and so on.

Bring gallons and gallons of water..refill every 10-20 miles
>>15941717
freeze plugs dont just fall out you fucking moron.
chances are the entire engine needs a rebuild
>>15942042
It didn't fall out. Its leaking badly.
>>15943139
If one freeze plug is bad, I'd be looking at all the others very closely.
I'm sure you can find an old truck that doesn't run much closer to where you live.

Not a Ramcharger for $800 that works & isn't beat to shit. No, no I can't.
>>15941933
They've closed that loop hole pretty much everywhere now. You pretty much have to use it on a vehicle that is legitimately broken down on the side of the road and legally plated and registered in your name. Your asking for trouble otherwise.
>>15943632
I thought you said it didn't work. Why do you want a Ramcharger over a Blazer?
>>15943730
Well "works" meaning has an *almost* working engine, actually has a tranny, exterior good, interior good, power everything works, heat, ac, isn't rusted to shit, etc. There's basically no project here besides getting it tuned up, the plug installed & whatever additions I wanna do.
Blazers are fucking everywhere. Plus, not exactly retro nor cool (unless its a k5). So it was either a RC or a Bronco.

Could the guy that currently has the car get it towed via AAA in his name to my house? Its still tagged & insured I believe.
AAA member ship, their top level covers 300 mile tow
>>15943920
Yes, the guy just has to show his card and you would just have to be at the drop location. The tow truck operator will just be glad hes getting paid, theres no over sight.
>>15943940
just have him get the car on a maintained road.
>>15943940
>>15943948
That sounds like the way to go. Their top membership is like $35 for a year. Hell I'd just pay him for it.
He obviously won't have a card right away though. Do they give u a temp card or something?
