So my sister just got a new car cause the tranny on her 01 CL Type S is fucked up, basically gave it to me so all I gotta do is get that fucker fixed. Which brings me to ask you guys what modding potential does this car have? Any advice for a first time car owner?
Extra info: it has 260k miles, has a sport automatic (normally it'd be a dealbreaker but the car was free), cold air intake, and I'm positive it is a type S.
Those auto trannys are made of glass.
I would have it rebuilt with upgraded internals and stick it back in there.
Those are nice cruisers.

Be glade that manual swapping is easier in these cars than most.

Yeah my friend suggested I get it rebuilt instead of replaced with a salvaged one, so that's what I'm thinking is better. I'm considering a plug and play tune but I don't know any good ones or if that's even a good idea, maybe a different exhaust?

Feel like that'd cost me more than the car is worth.

Yeah the auto trannies are shitty
Lucky she got that many miles out of it

Dont bother with a tune. Itll help marginally but basically with 260K its just a good cheap cruiser. Dont wanna sink money into something like that. Just enjoy it for what it is and save money for something better.

>positive it's a type s
It would say type s on the gear stick, and back of the vehicle. The engine cover would have red "3.0 or 3.2vtec" or whatever size motors those things come with. If it's green or solid black it's not a type s

how much is a used tranny + installation or tranny rebuilt + installation gonna cost you?
How much does that car cost?
Keep in mind 2000s honda automatic transmissions where absolute shit and the fact your sis got 260k miles out of it is downright amazing considering those regularly break at 100k miles
So even if you replace it, it might end up breaking again soon, personally I would just junk it or if you leave in a border state sell it to the mexicans, theyll buy it for a decent price cause mechanics in mexico supposed rebuild and replace trannys for as little as 300-400 dollars
Just curious
But what did she replace it with?

It's on the gearstick but the external badging was removed when it was repainted since dry California weather fucked up the black paint, this is a stock photo not mine

No idea how much it's gonna run me yet but I know a salvaged one is under 1k, the car is worth about $3,500 with a running transmission, and I'm having one of those Mexican mechanics fixing it.
