Could i buy a 200w power inverter that plugs in your cigarette lighter and hook up a PC subwoofer to my car. than use a aux splitter to hook it up to my car speaker and phone to play music. just a thought i had because i have a random polk audio sub which i dont use and ive been thinking of installing it in my car. is this a good idea or am i retarded, thanks /o/

My computer subwoofer was already 12 v rated

its prolly 6 ohm or something
not very efficient on power
that and it will likely suffer from port flutter

Save your money for a better sound system. It will sound and look a lot better than a subwoofer strapped to the back seat.
Just buy some second hand subwoofers, you wog cunt.

Do not confuse "i can physically do this" with "will it sound good if i do this". Subwoofers have huge peak current requirements each time a big bass note sounds. The inverter cannot supply that huge peak current and would either shut down (from looking into what seems a short to it) or clip (if it has a good current limiter) or droop (if it has a bad design). You might be a smart aleck and say you'll put a huge capacitor on the inverter output, but that would be a mistake as cheap inverter designs are not made to have long term compatible operation with one farad outputs.

Porr flutter can be fixed easily

Nigger?

yes you can but you shouldnt just look up powered subwoofers on amazon. You shoud be able to get one with a built in amp for close to 100 bucks
