It's easy to slide a car around in a big open space when your head is screwed on straight, but if you're not expecting it, your instinct is usually to jump off the throttle. I'm a shit driver and this applies to me, can slide a car decently when I mean to do it, but in the rain when you don't expect it is harder to not shit yourself.

A local car meet that used to happen here eventually got shot down because of guys in mustangs doing burnouts. All the local businesses who had no problem with it started getting pissed off and eventually the cops started showing up and ticketing people for everything under the sun, so no one goes anymore.

I almost completely over steered and crashed into a person on the lane next to me, going on an on ramp in the rain. I was driving my chevy pickup, the turn was pretty much a 70-80degree turn (idk how else to describe it it was pretty sharp, not a 90 degree but close), i was going a bit too fast. So my automatic rear locking diff felt that ine tire was spinning much too fast and locked up and kicked my rear end out. As soon as i felt me rear end kick out I DID not push the brakes, I let off the throttle, and countersteered, after i felt the truck was going straight i straightened out the wheels and gave it slight throttle on a higher gear for less torque to the rear. This happened within seconds and i was shitting myself the entire time because a 2012 Tacoma was driving right next to me. When i straightened out the driver in the Tacoma chuckled at me as in saying "What an idiot, nice save though". Did i do okay? Is this the CORRECT way to correct your steering? If i pushed the brakes would i have spun out?

Have a neighbor who's 100% into sim racing and has a stupid expensive set up with hydraulic pedals, direct gear driven or some shit steering wheel, etc.

Shit is nuts in iRacing. You can feel everything and recover from it, from the front tires losing just the slightest amount of grip to the back end giving out.

But that shit costs as much as a shitbox itself, so yeah you can learn on a sim (don't real race car drivers use sims anyway?) but you'd have to end up spending thousands on one. To the point honestly I think it's unrealistic. You could feel just too much with that wheel. Crashing with it = hands off immediately or your fingers are fucked.
