This is true

This is not.
If there isn't oil under them, there isn't any in them
Drum brakes work pretty well on a car that small. Fun to drive around town, wouldn't dare get on a freeway. Really easy to work on. If it has any rust, run. You don't patch the floors, you replace the entire bottom of the car.

if you live anywhere other than the middle of a desert, expect it to be actively rusting away into nothing
>>15839428
not to mention, it rusts like nothing else and it's pathetically lethargic
>>15839462
OP here, i should mention im in California. Ive seen the car in person and it has Zero rust.
Ill ask friend to send me pics of it
Hate the paint but i can always repaint it
What hes told me so far:
"Not sure, it runs great. Never failed. Just bought new rims and adaptors for 5x100 rims. New 2 tip silencer mufflers, new headers."

Fuck
>tfw 1 minute before can post again

It's also really overpriced in relation to other classics because of the 'iconic' factor. Although prices aren't quite full retard.
There are a lot better cars to go for if you want a classic, but a Beetle isn't without it's advantages like this anon said.
Parts are cheap and easy to find and theres a huge community. They're easy to work on, and shits so simple it's not hard to figure out. If it gets cold where you live, the heat fucking sucks. And they're gutless. Cheap to build. I had one for a couple of years. I live in Michigan, and the thing just started falling apart, the rust is uncontrollable up here, and I got sick of only driving it 6 months in the year so I sold it.

Seasons are barely a thing here in California.
Its sunny 90% of the year and most old cars arent rusted
I was told they were easy to work on but here is a guy that modified one for racing, took 2 or 3 people's lives.

That just looks like someone who doesn't know what they hell they were doing.
>>15840666
yeah probably but the car looks flimsy as fuck.

Fun to drive
Parts are relatively cheap to other classic
Parts are widely available
easy to work on and maintain
There are a lot of mechanics who specialize in classic Volkswagons, if ever something goes wrong beyond your ability they will support you
Huge community of owners
>>15839428
If you maintain it it's perfectly reliable.
They're great little cars to own. I have 2. A 71 and 72 super bug. Especially good to learn car maintenance on.
>>15839514
I had one with major rust issues. Just basically learned rust repair on it. It wasn't too difficult.
>>15839409
How much?
>They like to turn backwards if you loose them due to weight in the rear.
>Great grip for off road
>Not good for prolonged driving in hot climates.

>Volkswagons
>They're great little cars to own. I have 2.
How can one person own a car and not even know how its brand is spelled?
